Starting Sunday, June 21, the TTC operates buses, instead of streetcars, along the entire 306 Carlton overnight and 506 Carlton routes to accommodate several upcoming construction projects, including:
- replacing the streetcar tracks on Howard Park Avenue and in High Park Loop and other related projects;
- replacing the streetcar tracks on the bridge carrying Dundas Street West over the Metrolinx tracks near Sterling Road;
- replacing the streetcar tracks at the intersection of Dundas Street West with College Street and other related projects.
- upgrading the streetcar overhead wiring on the entire route to allow streetcars to operate with pantographs; and
- rehabilitating the terminal at Main Street Station.
The City of Toronto also plans to upgrade cycling infrastructure on College Street at Borden Street.
Route 306 overnight buses follow the path for the regular streetcar service. However, west of Howard Park Avenue, route 506 buses remain on Dundas Street West, starting and ending their trips in Dundas West Station terminal. Buses don’t operate along Howard Park to and from High Park Loop.
Buses continue to replace streetcars along the 506 Carlton route until the “end of 2020” or until about December 31.
