301 / 501 Queen: Service changes due to construction, starting January 3



The TTC is revising service along the 301 Queen overnight and 501 Queen routes during upcoming construction projects, including:

  • track upgrades and intersection improvements at Queen Street West / King Street West / The Queensway / Roncesvalles Avenue; and
  • track and overhead upgrades at various sites on Queen Street West; and
  • overhead upgrades on Queen Street East east of Woodbine Avenue.

As the first step to accommodate the projects, starting Sunday, January 3, the TTC is replacing streetcars with buses west of downtown Toronto.

301 Queen overnight
  • Streetcars operate as far westward as York Street, looping along Church Street, Richmond Streets East and West and York.
  • Buses operate as far eastward as Jarvis Street, looping along Jarvis, Richmond East and Church.
501 Queen
  • Streetcars operate as far westward as McCaul Street, turning back through McCaul Loop.
  • Buses operate as far eastward as Jarvis Street, looping along Jarvis, Richmond East and Church.

The TTC also splits bus service into two branches:

  • Buses along branch 501L operate between Long Branch Loop and Jarvis.
  • Buses along branch 501P operate between Park Lawn Loop and Jarvis.

501 Queen

Starting Sunday, January 3, eastbound cars start their trips in McCaul Loop, then proceed:

southward along McCaul to Queen Street West,
resuming their regular route eastward along Queen West.

Eastbound cars skip their regular stops

  • in Long Branch Loop,
  • on Lake Shore Boulevard West at Thirty-Seventh Street, Long Branch Avenue, Thirty-First, Twenty-Eighth, Twenty-Seventh and Twenty-Second Streets and Colonel Samuel Smith Park Drive, across from Fifteenth Street, at Thirteenth, Tenth, Seventh, Fifth, Third and First Streets, Royal York and Miles Roads, Norris Crescent, across from Mimico Avenue, at Superior Avenue and across from Burlington and Louisa Streets and Legion Road, at Marine Parade Drive [west] and beside #s 2155 and 2111 Lake Shore West,
  • in Humber Loop,
  • on The Queensway beyond South Kingsway, Windermere and Ellis Avenues and Colborne Lodge Drive, at Parkside Drive, across from Glendale Avenue and at King Street West,
  • on Queen Street West at Triller, Beaty, Jameson and Dunn Avenues, across from Brock Avenue and at Dufferin, Sudbury and Abell Streets, Dovercourt Road, Lower Ossington Avenue, Shaw Street, Strachan Avenue, Niagara, Tecumseth and Bathurst Streets, Augusta and Spadina Avenues and Peter and John Streets.

During construction, these eastbound stops have no route 501 service:

  • on Lake Shore Boulevard West at Marine Parade Drive [west] and beside #s 2155 and 2111 Lake Shore West and
  • in Humber Loop.

Buses along other TTC routes continue to serve these stops:

  • Lake Shore West: 66B Prince Edward.
  • Humber Loop: 66A Prince Edward.

Instead, eastbound cars pick up passengers at a temporary stop

  • in McCaul Loop.

Shuttle buses replace the cars west of McCaul Street to Long Branch Loop and to Park Lawn Loop. Westbound streetcar passengers may transfer to westbound buses at stops on Queen Streets East and West between Church and St. Patrick Streets.

Westbound cars reverse the eastbound detour routing.

Westbound cars skip their regular stops

  • on Queen Street West at John and Soho Streets, Spadina and Augusta Avenues, Bathurst Street, Palmerston Avenue, Claremont Street, across from Strachan Avenue, at Shaw Street, Ossington Avenue, Dovercourt Road and Beaconsfield and Gladstone Avenues, beyond Dufferin Street and at Brock, O’Hara, Lansdowne, Sorauren, Triller and Roncesvalles Avenues and
  • on The Queensway at Glendale Avenue and Parkside Drive, beyond Colborne Lodge Drive, Ellis and Windermere Avenues and at South Kingsway,
  • in Humber Loop,
  • on Lake Shore Boulevard West across from #s 2111 and 2155 Lake Shore West, beyond Park Lawn Road, at Legion Road, Louisa, Burlington and Superior Streets, Mimico and Hillside Avenues, Symons Street and Royal York Road, beyond Dwight Avenue, at Third and Fifth Streets, Islington Avenue, Tenth, Thirteenth and Fifteenth Streets, Kipling Avenue, Twenty-Second, Twenty-Sixth, Twenty-Ninth and Thirtieth Streets and across from Long Branch Avenue, Thirty-Seventh and Thirty-Ninth Streets and

During construction, these westbound stops have no route 501 service:

  • in Humber Loop and
  • on Lake Shore Boulevard West across from #s 2111 and 2155 Lake Shore West.

TTC buses along this route continue to serve passengers at Humber Loop:

  • 66A Prince Edward.

The two westbound stops on this part of Lake West have no transit service during construction.

Instead, westbound cars drop passengers at a temporary stop

  • in McCaul Loop.

Shuttle buses operate west of McCaul Street from Long Branch Loop and from Park Lawn Loop.

501 Queen shuttle buses

Starting Sunday, January 3, buses replace streetcars along the 501 Queen route west of McCaul Street. Buses operate along two branches:

  • Buses along branch 501L operate between Long Branch Loop and Jarvis.
  • Buses along branch 501P operate between Park Lawn Loop and Jarvis.

501L Queen (Long Branch) shuttle buses

Starting Sunday, January 3, eastbound buses start their trips in Long Branch Loop, then proceed:

eastward along Lake Shore Boulevard West;
northward along Park Lawn Road;
eastward along The Queensway and Queen Streets West and East; and then
southward along Jarvis Street to Richmond Street East,
ending their trips.

Eastbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops

  • in Long Branch Loop,

ending their trips.

southward along Jarvis Street to Richmond Street East,
ending their trips.

Eastbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops

  • in Park Lawn Loop,
  • on Park Lawn Road beyond Lake Shore Boulevard West and across from #88 Park Lawn, the eastbound off-ramp from the Frederick G. Gardiner Expressway and the westbound on-ramp to the Gardiner,
  • on The Queensway beyond Park Lawn Road, across from Stephen Drive, beside #125 Queensway, beyond South Kingsway, Windermere and Ellis Avenues and Colborne Lodge Drive, at Parkside Drive, across from Glendale Avenue and at King Street West,
