Don't Hang Around Kennedy Station... Unless You Like Classical Music

Attention News Editors:

TORONTO, March 23 /CNW/ - TTC introduced classical music to
Kennedy Station, Thursday, March 19. The pre-recorded music, played
over the station's public address system, was recommended in the
Community-based Kennedy Station Safety Audit Report.
The music is expected to encourage customers, particularly
students, to move through the station quickly rather than loiter in
groups. TTC Security Staff and Toronto Police have visited schools
and met with area community organizations to encourage students to
travel responsibly and safely on the TTC. Both the Police and TTC
Security are now seen more often in this station.
Other Audit Report recommendations, now completed, included a
pilot project for a Youth Outreach Worker at the station, the
establishment of a TTC Youth Crime Unit and the improvement of
sightlines and lighting at the station.
