TTC Owed $130 Million in Back Taxes?
Could this be the magic bullet that saves the TTC from massive fare hikes and service cuts next year? An annual savings of at least $10 million couldn’t hurt, and receiving a $130 million GST rebate could go a long way to buying new buses, streetcars, and providing a cushion against future deficits. Let us hope that the TTC’s court challenge is successful and, if successful, let us hope that the Federal Government doesn’t get into a snit and deny the TTC further operating subsidies and capital grants.
