We are getting reports from our readers that overhead wires were knocked down on Spadina Avenue at Bremner yesterday. This forced 510 Spadina streetcars to divert by King, Bathurst and Queens Quay on their way to Union station.
The cause of the accident is believed to be a construction vehicle that turned onto Spadina Avenue, with its cherry-picker/ladder not fully retracted. The accident brought down both lines.
Repair work is complicated by a shortage of parts, and it may not be until Monday that 510 Spadina streetcars are operating over their normal route. Service between Bloor and King remains unaffected.
