Progress Made in TTC Talks

There is hope today that TTC workers won’t strike or be locked out later this week. This article from the Star details the progress that has occurred in the talks.

TTC workers have a legal strike deadline this Friday, but have vowed not to strike as long as negotiations continue.

The talks of 2002 also went down to the wire. The TTC and its unions operated without a contract for one week before a deal was reached. The last strike to affect the system took place in 1999.

Also in the Star today is an article on York Region’s $2 million campaign to promote its rapid-transit bus.
