Give the Gift of Toronto Transit

Are you shopping for a gift for a Toronto railfan this Christmas? Well, you have options.

I remember, long ago, my parents made a pretty credible model of a Gloucester subway train which operated on Brio’s famous wooden tracks. Were I that young today, they wouldn’t have to work nearly so hard, thanks to Rocky Mountain Trains. The T-1 vehicle (pictured right) is just one of the various models available at their website.

A trip to hunt for that perfect gift should always include George’s Trains, on Mount Pleasant Road just north of Davisville Avenue. They may have the T-1 brio car in stock and, if all else fails, they offer gift certificates which would be much loved by any recipient.

If you’re looking for other curio items like TTC-emblazoned pens, mugs, or magnets, Legacy Sportswear is a good place to shop. They even have Corgi PCC die-cast models in stock, but be warned that at $125, these models are for serious railfans only.

Finally, there’s always those nifty subway buttons from Spacing Magazine, or pre-packaged gifts of the magazine itself. These are already proving hot items during this holiday shopping season.
