Streetcar service returns to Queens Quay between Union Station and Spadina today as the TTC finishes work on replacing the tracks in the Bay Street tunnel. 509 Harbourfront and 510 Spadina had been operating to Queens Quay and Spadina only, with passengers forced to transfer to replacement buses in order to continue their journey.
And, earlier this weekend, the City of Toronto partially reopened the Finch Avenue bridge over Black Creek. The street had been washed out during heavy rains on August 19, forcing a lengthy detour of the 36 Finch West and 309 Finch West Night buses and a $5 million project to restore the bridge. The bridge is only partially reopened, however; the sidewalks are back, but traffic will still be restricted to one lane in each direction until the remaining two lanes in each direction are opened in May. While the buses may be back on their normal routing, TTC patrons should expect continued delays on this route until all of the lanes are restored.
Feedback Requested on Video Screens
The TTC is looking for public feedback on the new video screens that have been installed in key stations over the past year. You can have your say simply by visiting this website. Spacing’s Wire has its own opinion about these screens, and you should read its detailed critique.
