Late Opening This Sunday, and a Reader Complaint

The TTC has announced that, due to “scheduled maintenance”, the Bloor-Danforth subway will open in two segments at 9 a.m. this coming Sunday. From 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., trains will operate between Kipling and Ossington and between St. George and Kennedy only, and shuttle buses will bridge the gap, stopping at Christie, Bathurst and Spadina stations. The details can be found here.

The reader that brought this to our attention also passed along a complaint about the quality of the TTC’s notices for this diversion. In his words: “the diagram on the same poster shows the bus bypassing the three stations! If I was the TTC I’d be inclined to operate it straight along Bloor and just stop it at the intersection nearest each station, since most people will be riding through from Ossington to St. George. So who knows?”

The reader also noted that the diagram swapped Christie and Bathurst stations. Even the text swaps Christie and Bathurst stations when describing the stops the shuttle buses will make.

Still, at least this scheduled maintenance will not seriously disrupt subway service for most Torontonians.
