506 Carlton to Resume Regular Route this Weekend

After being rerouted to Kingston Road and Victoria Park thanks to almost two months of construction on Upper Gerrard, 506 Carlton streetcars will return to Main Street station this Saturday. Further details can be found here.

The stretch on Upper Gerrard represents the last major portion of 506 Carlton that needed rebuilding. Streetcars on the route are now operating on mostly fresh track.

According to the TTC, diversions are set to begin this Saturday for 77 Swansea and 80 Queensway buses as road construction closes the westbound lanes on the Queensway between Glendale and Windermere Avenues. 77 Swansea buses will divert off of Cole Hill Drive and operate southbound on Windermere only. Westbound 80 Queensway buses will operate further west on Lakeshore Boulevard, turning up to the Queensway along Windermere instead of Ellis Avenue.

Construction on the Queensway will continue until this September. Service on 501 Queen will not be affected, although construction continues on Lakeshore Boulevard west of Kipling, resulting in cars short turning at Kipling Loop and shuttle buses completing the journey to Long Branch.
