Today is the day of Toronto’s popular Santa Claus Parade. If you are heading into the downtown and not attending the parade, you should expect significant delays as the parade route cuts a swath through the core. The parade route runs from Christie Pits, east along Bloor, south along Queens Park Crescent (East) and University Avenue, east along Queen, south on Yonge and east on Front to Jarvis. Roads will be closed and the Queen streetcar line will be diverted during the parade, and over 500,000 people are expected to attend.

If you are attending the parade, you should consider leaving the car at home or parking at one of the park ‘n’ ride lots at the end of the subway line, as the parade route passes several subway stations, including Christie, Bathurst, Spadina, St. George, Museum, Queen’s Park, St. Patrick, Osgoode, Queen and King. This will be, by far, the most efficient means of moving people in and out of the parade route, although you might consider grabbing Dundas and King streetcars, if available, to run to either Broadview or Dundas West stations.

The parade starts at 10:30 a.m. at Christie Pits and continues until around 1:30 at the St. Lawrence Market. Happy holidays, everyone!
