Holiday transit service – December 22 to December 28



Greater Toronto Area and Hamilton transit authorities are revising services during the holidays.

Toronto Transit Commission

Friday, December 22: Weekday schedule in the morning and evening; extended early afternoon peak schedule

Saturday, December 23: Saturday schedule

Sunday, December 24: Sunday schedule; The 3 Scarborough rapid transit line will run on its regular Sunday schedule with RT cars. (The TTC had previously scheduled maintenance work that closed the RT on Sundays since October 29 and will close the RT every Sunday from January 7 until February 11, 2007.)

Monday, December 25 / Christmas: Sunday schedule

Tuesday, December 26 / Boxing Day: Saturday schedule. TTC buses will not operate on the 196 York University Rocket route.

Wednesday, December 27 and Thursday, December 28: Weekday schedule. Reduced peak service.

GO Transit

Friday, December 22: Weekday schedule in the morning; extended early afternoon peak schedule. GO will reschedule or cancel some trips in the late afternoon in all corridors – check special December 22 schedules.

Saturday, December 23: Saturday schedule

Sunday, December 24: Sunday schedule

Monday, December 25 / Christmas: Holiday schedule

Tuesday, December 26 / Boxing Day: Holiday schedule

Wednesday, December 27 and Thursday, December 28: Weekday schedule.

Here’s what’s happening over the holidays with local transit systems in the GO service area:

Barrie Transit

Friday, December 22: Regular daytime and evening schedule

Saturday, December 23: Regular daytime and evening schedule

Sunday, December 24: Hourly Sunday schedule begins at 8 a.m. instead of 10 a.m. Buses on the Bayfield 27 route run every fifteen minutes.

Monday, December 25 / Christmas: No service

Tuesday, December 26 / Boxing Day: Hourly Sunday schedule begins at 8 a.m. instead of 10 a.m. but ends at 7:15 p.m. Buses on the 11 Bayfield route run every fifteen minutes.

Wednesday, December 27 and Thursday, December 28: Regular daytime and evening schedule

Brampton Transit

Friday, December 22: Weekday schedule with earlier trips from GO stations

Saturday, December 23: Saturday schedule

Sunday, December 24: Sunday and holiday schedule

Monday, December 25 / Christmas: Sunday and holiday schedule

Tuesday, December 26 / Boxing Day: Sunday and holiday schedule

Wednesday, December 27 and Thursday, December 28: Brampton Transit will operate regular weekday schedules on most routes, but will reduce schedule frequency on these routes:

2 Main (reduced frequency all day), 12 Grenoble (reduced frequency after 7 p.m.), 13 Avondale (reduced frequency midday and early evening), 19 Fernforest (reduced frequency after 7 p.m.), 24 Van Kirk (reduced frequency midday), 40 South Industrial (reduced frequency midday and early evening).

Brampton Transit buses will not operate on special school routes.

Burlington Transit

Friday, December 22: Weekday schedule

Saturday, December 23: Saturday schedule. Downtown terminal operates with reduced service hours.

Sunday, December 24: Sunday schedule. Downtown terminal closed.

Monday, December 25 / Christmas: No service. Dowtown terminal closed.

Tuesday, December 26 / Boxing Day: Sunday schedule. Dowtown terminal closed.

Wednesday, December 27 and Thursday, December 28: Weekday schedule. Burlington Transit buses will not operate on school special routes.

Durham Region Transit

Friday, December 22: Weekday schedule

Saturday, December 23: Saturday schedule

Sunday, December 24: Sunday schedule. Buses operate until 6 p.m. in Ajax, Clarington and Pickering, 7 p.m. in Whitby and 8 p.m. in Oshawa.

Monday, December 25 / Christmas: No service

Tuesday, December 26 / Boxing Day: Sunday schedule

Wednesday, December 27 and Thursday, December 28: Weekday schedule

Guelph Transit

Friday, December 22: Regular schedule

Saturday, December 23: Regular schedule

Sunday, December 24: Sunday schedule

Monday, December 25 / Christmas Day: No service

Tuesday, December 26 / Boxing Day: No service

Wednesday, December 27 and Thursday, December 28: Regular service

Hamilton Street Railway

Friday, December 22: Weekday schedule

Mississauga Transit

Friday, December 22: Weekday schedule; extended early afternoon peak schedule on these routes:

17 Timberlea, 25 Traders Loop, 50 Creekbank, 51 Tomken, 60 Meadowvale Shuttle – Crosscurrent, 61 Cooksville Shuttle – Webb, 62 Cooksville Shuttle – Kaneff, 64 Meadowvale Shuttle – Montevideo, 70 Keaton, 82 Financial – Argentia, 201 Dundas Express, 202 Hurontario Express, 206 Burnhamthorpe Express, 230 Sheridan Express

Saturday, December 23: Saturday schedule. Islington Station ticket booth closed.

Sunday, December 24: Sunday / holiday schedule. Islington Station ticket booth closed.

Monday, December 25 / Christmas: Sunday / holiday schedule. City Centre Terminal and Islington Station ticket booths closed all day.

Tuesday, December 26 / Boxing Day: Saturday schedule. Islington Station ticket booth closed.

Wednesday, December 27 and Thursday, December 28: Weekday schedule

MT buses will operate on some routes with modified weekday schedules:

3 Bloor, 7 Airport, 13 Glen Erin, 19 Hurontario, 20 Rathburn, 23 Lakeshore, 26 Burnhamthorpe, 45 Winston Churchill, 45A Winston Churchill – Financial, 48 Erin Mills, 66 McLaughlin.

MT buses will not operate on some routes:

24 University, 201 Dundas Express, 202 Hurontario Express, 206 Burnhamthorpe Express, All school routes.

Oakville Transit

Friday, December 22: Weekday schedule. YRT will adjust schedules or divert buses on some routes to meet early extended afternoon peak GO trains:

Regular routes: 1 Highway 7, 2 Milliken, 8 Kennedy, 22 King City, 52 Holland Landing, 58 Leslie North, 83 Langstaff-Maple. GO shuttle routes: 201 Markham, 202 Unionville, 222 Aurora-Newmarket, 223 Newmarket, 240 Mill Pond, 241 Beverley Acres, 242 North Richvale, 243 Redstone, 261 Rutherford.
