Holiday transit service - December 29, 2006 to January 5, 2007 -- Updated



Greater Toronto Area and Hamilton transit authorities are revising services during the second week of the holidays.

Note: This entry now contains updated information on GO Transit, Guelph Transit and the Hamilton Street Railway.

Toronto Transit Commission

Friday, December 29: Weekday schedule in the morning and evening; extended early afternoon peak schedule

Saturday, December 30: Saturday schedule.

Sunday, December 31 / New Year’s Eve: Sunday schedule. The 3 Scarborough rapid transit line will run on its regular Sunday schedule with RT cars. (The TTC had previously scheduled maintenance work that closed the RT on Sundays since October 29 and will close the RT every Sunday from January 7 until February 11, 2007.)

Most bus and streetcar routes with late-evening service continue until 3 a.m. The TTC will run extra trips on all Blue Night routes between 3 and 4 a.m. Last trains on the Yonge-University-Spadina Subway leave Union Station at 2:31 a.m. for Finch Station and 2:36 a.m. for Downsview Station. Last trains on the Bloor-Danforth Subway leave Bloor-Yonge Station at 2:38 a.m. for Kipling Station and at 2:38 a.m. for Kennedy Station. Last train on the Scarborough RT leaves Kennedy Station at 3:04 a.m. for McCowan Station. Last train on the Sheppard Subway leaves Sheppard-Yonge Station at 2:58 a.m. for Don Mills Station.

Monday, January 1, 2007 / New Year’s Day: Sunday schedule

Tuesday, January 2 to Friday, January 5: Weekday schedule with reduced peak service.

GO Transit

Friday, December 29: Weekday schedule in the morning; extended early afternoon peak schedule. GO will reschedule or cancel some trips in the late afternoon in all corridors – check special December 29 schedules.

Saturday, December 30: Saturday schedule. New weekend service to Ajax, Whitby and Oshawa Stations begins.

Sunday, December 31 / New Year’s Eve: Sunday schedule. Free rides after 7 p.m.

Lakeshore East trains run later. The last eastbound train on the Lakeshore line leaves Union Station for Oshawa at 1:13 a.m., arriving at Oshawa at 2:08 a.m. GO will also run a later connecting bus to Newcastle, meeting the last train at Oshawa at 2:08 a.m. The connecting bus arrives at Newcastle at 3:02 a.m. At 1:20 a.m., GO will run an express bus from the Union bus terminal, arriving at Oshawa at 2:21 a.m. and stopping only at Pickering, Ajax and Whitby Stations.

Lakeshore West trains run later. The last westbound train on the Lakeshore line leaves Union Station for Oakville at 1:13 a.m., arriving at Oakville at 1:49 a.m. GO will also run a later connecting bus to Hamilton, meeting the last train to Oakville at 1:49 a.m. The connecting bus arrives in Hamilton at 2:45 a.m. At 1:20 a.m., GO will run an express bus from the Union bus terminal, arriving at Hamilton at 2:55 a.m. and stopping only at Port Credit, Clarkson, Oakville, Burlington and Aldershot Stations.

Brampton buses run later. The last GO bus to Brampton leaves York Mills Station at 2:10 a.m.

Barrie Transit

Friday, December 29: Regular daytime and evening schedule

Saturday, December 30: Regular daytime and evening schedule

Sunday, December 31 / New Year’s Eve: Half-hourly special service on all routes from 6 p.m. until 3 a.m. Service on all routes is free of charge between 6 and 9 p.m. Regular fares apply from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. Last buses leave the downtown terminal at either 2:45 or 3 a.m. (Creative Outdoor Advertising and Barrie Transit are sponsoring the special service.)

Monday, January 1, 2007 / New Year’s Day: Sunday service

Tuesday, January 2 to Friday, January 5: Regular daytime and evening schedule

Brampton Transit

Friday, December 29: Brampton Transit buses will operate with regular weekday schedules on most routes and earlier trips on routes from GO stations. BT will also reduce service frequency on these routes:

2 Main (reduced frequency all day), 12 Grenoble (reduced frequency after 7 p.m.), 13 Avondale (reduced frequency midday and early evening), 14 Torbram (reduced frequency after 7 p.m.), 19 Fernforest (reduced frequency after 7 p.m.), 24 Van Kirk (reduced frequency midday), 40 South Industrial (reduced frequency midday and early evening).

Saturday, December 30: Saturday schedule

Sunday, December 31 / New Year’s Eve:: Sunday and holiday schedule. Free extended service from 7:30 p.m. until 3 a.m. on the following routes:

1 Queen, 2 Main, 4 Chinguacousy, 5 Bovaird, 7 Kennedy, 8 Centre (until 1:30 a.m. only), 11 Steeles, 14 Torbram, 15 Bramalea, 18 Dixie, 52 McMurchy, 53 Kingknoll, 77 Finch Subway. (A courtesy bus on the 77 route will leave Finch Station at 3:10 a.m. This bus will not connect with any other Brampton Transit services.) Bacardi, Brampton Transit and the City of Brampton are sponsoring this free service.

Burlington Transit

Friday, December 29: Weekday schedule

Saturday, December 30: Saturday schedule. Downtown terminal operates with reduced service hours.

Sunday, December 31 / New Year’s Eve: Sunday schedule, extended until 3 a.m. Downtown terminal closed.

Monday, January 1, 2007 / New Year’s Day: No service. Downtown terminal closed.

Tuesday, January 2 to Friday, January 5: Weekday schedule

Durham Region Transit

Friday, December 29: Weekday schedule. DRT buses will not operate on the Campus 101 route.

Saturday, December 30: Saturday schedule

Sunday, December 31 / New Year’s Eve: Sunday schedule. Extended service until 2 a.m. to meet last GO trains at Pickering, Ajax, Whitby and Oshawa Stations. Free service after 7 p.m. DRT and Ontario Power Generation’s Darlington and Pickering Nuclear Stations are sponsoring the free service.

Monday, January 1, 2007 / New Year’s Day: Sunday schedule

Guelph Transit

Sunday, December 31 / New Year’s Eve: Sunday schedule. Extended service until 2 a.m. Free rides after 6 p.m.

Monday, January 1, 2007 / New Year’s Day: Sunday schedule

Tuesday, January 2 to Friday, January 5: Weekday schedule. HSR buses will resume regular service on the 51 University route.

Mississauga Transit

Friday, December 29: Weekday schedule. Islington Station ticket booth closed.

MT will operate on some routes with extended early afternoon peak schedules:

17 Timberlea, 25 Traders Loop, 50 Creekbank, 51 Tomken, 60 Meadowvale Shuttle – Crosscurrent, 61 Cooksville Shuttle – Webb, 62 Cooksville Shuttle – Kaneff, 64 Meadowvale Shuttle – Montevideo

MT buses will operate on some routes will operate with modified weekday schedules:

3 Bloor, 7 Airport, 13 Glen Erin, 19 Hurontario, 20 Rathburn, 23 Lakeshore, 26 Burnhamthorpe, 45 Winston Churchill, 45A Winston Churchill – Financial, 48 Erin Mills, 66 McLaughlin.

MT buses will not operate on some routes:

24 University, 201 Dundas Express, 202 Hurontario Express, 206 Burnhamthorpe Express, All school routes.

MT buses will operate on all other routes with regular weekday schedules.

Saturday, December 30: Saturday schedule

Sunday, December 31 / New Year’s Eve: Sunday / holiday schedule, with extended later service until 4 a.m. Islington Station ticket booth closed.

MT buses will operate on some routes will with extended service until 4 a.m.: 1 Dundas, 3 Bloor, 5 Dixie, 9 Rathburn-Miller’s Grove, 11 Westwood, 13 Glen Erin, 19 Hurontario, 23 Lakeshore, 26 Burnhamthorpe, 34 Credit Valley, 36 Colonial.

All other routes operate on regular Sunday schedules.

Free service after 7 p.m. Mississauga Transit and CBS Outdoor are sponsoring the free service.

Monday, January 1, 2007 / New Year’s Day: Sunday / holiday schedule. City Centre Terminal and Islington Station ticket booths closed all day.

Tuesday, January 2 to Friday, January 5: Weekday schedule.

Oakville Transit

Friday, December 29: Weekday schedule

Saturday, December 30: Saturday schedule

Sunday, December 31 / New Year’s Eve: Sunday schedule. Zone service from 7 a.m. to 12:25 a.m. Late Night service at 12:25 and 1:40 p.m., meeting the last westbound GO trains.

Monday, January 1, 2007 / New Year’s Day: Holiday schedule

Tuesday, January 2 to Friday, January 5: Weekday schedule

York Region Transit

Friday, December 29: Weekday schedule.

YRT will adjust schedules or divert buses on these routes to meet early extended afternoon peak GO trains: 1 Highway 7, 2 Milliken, 8 Kennedy, 22 King City, 52 Holland Landing, 58 Leslie North, 83 Langstaff-Maple, 201 Markham GO shuttle, 202 Unionville GO shuttle, 222 Aurora-Newmarket GO shuttle, 223 Newmarket GO shuttle, 240 Mill Pond GO shuttle, 241 Beverley Acres GO shuttle, 242 North Richvale GO shuttle, 243 Redstone GO shuttle, 261 Rutherford GO shuttle.

Saturday, December 30: Saturday schedule

Sunday, December 31 / New Year’s Eve: Sunday schedule. Extended service until 3 a.m. Free service after 7 p.m. on YRT routes and TTC routes within York Region.

YRT buses will operate on some routes with extended Sunday schedules until 3 a.m.: Viva Blue, Viva Purple, Viva Green, 1 Highway 7, 2 Milliken, 3 Thornhill – York University, 4 Major Mackenzie, 5 Clark (YRT buses do not usually serve this route on Sundays – buses operate on an extended Saturday schedule on this route on December 31 only), 8 Kennedy, 10 York University – Woodbridge, 11 Woodbridge, 20 Jane – Concord, 55 Davis Drive, 56 Gorham – Eagle, 57 Mulock Drive, Highway 7 – Centre Street, 85 Rutherford – 16th Avenue, 88 Bathurst, 90 Leslie South, 91 Bayview South, 98 Yonge North, 99 Yonge South, 224B Woodbine Avenue.

TTC buses will operate on some routes in York Region with extended schedules until 3 a.m.: 68B Warden, 105 Dufferin North, 107C Keele North, 129A McCowan North, 165D Weston Road North

YRT buses will operate on all other routes with regular Sunday schedules.
