Several Greater Toronto Area and Hamilton transit service agencies have recently revised, or will soon revise their schedules and service.
Effective January 7, the TTC will revise service on a number of routes. Highlights include the return of street cars to St. Clair Avenue, additional routes with disabled- and mobility-impaired accessible buses and an extra stop on a downtown express route.
14 Glencairn
New accessible service, using lift-equipped buses. (Effective January 8.)
39 Finch East
Increased service at the end of the weekday afternoon peak period from Monday to Friday, to reduce crowding; additional eastbound service on the 39E (Finch Station-Neilson Express) branch, departing from Finch Station between 6:30 and 6:50 p.m. (Effective January 8.)
67 Pharmacy
Additional schedule time during the weekday peak and midday periods; trip times at stops along the route change. (Effective January 8.)
79 Scarlett Road
Increased service early Saturday evenings; additional service northbound from Runnymede Station between 6. and 6:30 p.m. (Effective January 13.)
89 Weston
Additional early weekday morning trip from Monday to Friday, departing from Keele Station at 5:30 a.m. (Effective January 8.)
95 York Mills
The additional time added to the schedules during recent road reconstruction removed; minor changes to service levels, and to trip times at stops along the route . Departure time of a westbound Monday-Friday trip serving Pope John Paul II Catholic High School changed to depart at 2:50 p.m., to better match the new school dismissal time of 2:45 p.m. (Effective January 8.)
106 York University
Additional time added to the schedules during weekday evenings so that the service operates every 18 minutes. (Effective January 8.)
116 Morningside
Departure time of a westbound Monday-Friday trip serving Pope John Paul II Catholic High School changed to depart at 2:50 p.m., to better match the new school dismissal time of 2:45 p.m. (Effective January 8.)
125 Drewry
New accessible service, using lift-equipped buses. (Effective January 7.)
142 Downtown / Avenue Rd Express
New stops, both directions, on Queen’s Park Crescent at Wellesley Street West. (Effective January 2.)
512 St. Clair
Starting Sunday, January 7, 2007, streetcar service will return to St. Clair Avenue, between St. Clair West Station and Gunn’s Loop (Keele Street). Replacement buses will continue to operate between St.Clair West and St. Clair Stations. Buses and streetcars will be timed to connect at St. Clair West Station. Service will operate every three to four minutes during the peak periods, and every five to ten minutes at all other times.
The TTC expects to resume streetcar service over the full route, from St. Clair Station to Keele Street in mid-February.

Minor changes to the weekday schedules of routes 6 Headon Forest, 12 Upper Middle and 61 Orchard resulting from revised GO train schedules, beginning January 2. Minor changes to the weekend schedules of routes 6 Headon Forest and 12 Upper Middle, beginning December 31.
DRT Centre (Whitby)
In addition to the major weekend changes that an earlier Transit Toronto posting describes, on January 2, DRT also made minor schedule changes to route 1 Otter Creek / West Lynde resulting from revised weekday GO train schedules.
HSR added two weekday westbound trips (towards downtown Hamilton) at the end of the morning peak period on the 21 Upper Kenilworth route and also made minor changes to the schedule throughout the day.
It also revised the interlined weekday schedules of the 10 Beeline Express, 55 Stoney Creek Central and 58 Stoney Creek Local routes and increased service on the 55 Stoney Creek Central route so that buses serve both branches from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays.
The City of Hamilton is constructing sewers and watermains at the south-west corner of King Street West and Bond Street South and that affects the the 5 Delaware, 10 Beeline Express and 51 University routes. Beginning January 2, HSR has diverted eastbound buses around the project. Buses follow their regular route to King and Marion Avenue South and then follow Marion to Longwood Road South, before resuming their regular route. The diversion does not affect eastbound buses. The detour began on January 2 and ends on January 7, 2007.
The 7:07 a.m. trip on the 18 Bur Oak route from Markham Stouffville Hospital will depart five minutes earlier at 7:02 a.m. to improve connections at Mount Joy GO Station.
