The first significant winter storm of the season has dropped snow and freezing rain throughout southern Ontario, and that has meant delays and accidents for commuters everywhere, be they on the highway, on GO Transit, or on local transit. Frozen switches delayed commuters up to ninety minutes on the Lakeshore East line. Although the weather has cleared up, commuters should be warned to expect slow conditions during the afternoon rush hours. The roads are still slippery and the police have noticed an increase in accidents with the clearer weather lulling some drivers into a false sense of security.
