GO Transit revises bus services to Durham Region

GO Transit will significantly improve its bus service along the Highway 401 and Kingston Road corridor later this month.

GO will split the current service into three routes, starting Saturday, April 28.

GO continues its seven-day-a-week “Oshawa Highway 2” service between Yorkdale and Oshawa GO Station, although it is adjusting the schedule to accommodate the new services. Buses on this route operate in both directions along Highway 401 between Yorkdale and Port Union Road, stopping only at York Mills and Scarborough Centre Stations. The buses then serve local stops along Kingston Road to Westney Road, jog south to the Ajax GO Station, loop through central Ajax, pausing for passengers at the Ajax GO bus terminal on Harwood Avenue, then return to Kingston Road. Buses then serve central Whitby and Oshawa and the downtown Oshawa bus terminal, before heading south along Simcoe Street and west along Bloor Street to Oshawa GO Station.

GO buses on the new “Oshawa Highway 2 Express” route will operate all day, Monday to Friday only from Finch Station. These buses will run south along Yonge Street, stopping only at Yonge and Sheppard Avenue and then run east along Highway 401 to Port Union Road, stopping only at Scarborough Centre Station. The buses will then make limited stops: in Pickering on Kingston Road at Fairport, Glenanna and Brock Roads; in Ajax on Kingston Road at Elizabeth Street, Westney Road and Harwood Avenue; in Whitby along Dundas Street at McQuay Boulevard, Brock Street, Garden Street and Thickson Road; and in Oshawa on King Street at Stevenson Road. Buses will then end their routes at the downtown Oshawa bus terminal.

GO buses on the new “Oshawa Highway 401” service will operate only during Monday to Friday peak periods. Alternate buses will run between Finch Station and Oshawa GO station and between Scarborough Centre Station and Oshawa GO Station. Finch buses will not stop at Scarborough Centre. All buses on this route stop only at the Pickering, Ajax and Whitby GO Stations. Buses will run in one direction only: towards Toronto in the morning peak period and towards Oshawa in the evening peak period.

Revised GO schedules after April 27.
