Streets close, transit routes divert this weekend.

The City of Toronto will close several major roads this weekend and the TTC and GO Transit will divert buses to carry passengers around the closures.

Don Valley Parkway

The City is closing the Parkway during its annual spring maintence program this weekend from 2 a.m. on Saturday, May 5 until 5 a.m. on Monday, May 7.

GO Transit will divert buses on its 65 Barrie-Bradford GO Bus and 71 Stouffville GO Bus services while the Parkway is closed.

GO buses will run along Don Mills Road and Sheppard Avenue East and return to route at Sheppard and Highway 404 this weekend. The detour may delay regular service, so GO passengers should add extra time when planning their trips.

Sporting Life 10K run

The run will take place this Sunday, May 6 between 8 a.m. and noon. Participants will run or walk southward along Yonge Street from the Sporting Life store at Yonge and Castlefield, then eastward along Adelaide Street East, southward along Sherbourne Street and Lower Sherbourne Street, westward along Lake Shore Boulevard East, northward along York Street, and finally, westward along Bremner Boulevard to Grand Trunk Boulevard, near the CN Tower and Rogers Centre.

The City will completely close Yonge Street between Lawrence and Erskine Avenues at 5 a.m. and Sherbourne Street between Adelaide and Front Streets. It will also partially close the other streets along the route of the run.

The TTC will divert buses on its 97 Yonge and 320 Yonge Blue Night routes. Between 5 and 8 a.m., southbound 320 buses will operate on their regular route to Lawrence then divert eastward along Lawrence Avenue East, southward along Mount Pleasant Road and then westward along Eglinton Avenue East before returning to their regular route. Northbound buses will reverse this routing

From 8 a.m. until approximately 11 a.m., buses on the 97 and 320 routes will operate along their regular routes to Lawrence, then divert westward along Lawrence, southward along Avenue Road, Oxton Avenue and Oriole Parkway, westward along Lonsdale Road, southward along Avenue Road, eastward along Davenport Road, southward along Bay Street and then eastward along King Street West before returning to route. Northbound buses will reverse this routing.

The TTC will also divert buses on the 75 Sherbourne route before noon. Southbound buses will follow their usual route to Sherbourne Street and Queen Street East, then proceed eastward along Queen, southward along Parliament Street and then westward along Queens Quay East to Lower Sherbourne Street. Northbound buses will proceed from Queens Quay along Lower Sherbourne Street, then eastward along Front Street East, northward along Parliament Street and westward along Richmond Street East before returning to their regular route.

The run may also delay other transit services that cross the route, so early-Sunday-morning transit passengers should plan to add extra time to their trips. As the race clears the route, the TTC may also restore regular service on parts of the affected routes.
