GO Transit diverts buses, starting today

GO Transit will divert buses in Ajax, Barrie and Newcastle, starting today. The Ajax detour will affect buses today only, but the Barrie and Newcastle detours will continue for several days.

GO is diverting buses around the intersection of Westney and Kingston Roads, due to a Durham Region Police investigation.

GO is diverting westbound buses, southward along Westney Road, westward along Bramwell Drive, northward along Rotherglen Road and then back to route at Rotherglen and Kingston Roads. Buses will miss all westbound stops along Kingston Road between Westney and Rotherglen Roads. The detour affects buses on the 94 Oshawa Highway 2 and 95 Oshawa Highway 2 Express routes.

(Update: 10: 29 a.m.): The Ajax diversion ended earlier this morning.

A City of Barrie construction project has closed the intersection of Yonge Street and Mapleview Road. Northbound GO Transit buses on the 65 Barrie - Bradford route will detour northward along Saint Paul’s Crescent and then return to route at the northern intersection of Saint Paul’s and Yonge. Soutbound buses reverse the routing. GO buses will skip their regular stops at Yonge and Mapleview during this diversion.

Due to the reconstruction of the bridge over Foster Creek in Newcastle, (just west of Baldwin Street) eastbound GO buses on the 09 Lakeshore East route will detour, starting today, Monday, May 14, until Monday, May 21, southward along Rudell Road, eastward along Edward Street West, northward along Beaver Street and then return to their route at King and Beaver. Westbound buses will reverse this routing. GO buses will skip their usual stops along King Street at North Street and Baldwin Street during the detour.
