Decision-makers discuss transit this week

The Toronto Transit Commission will hold its regular meeting on Wednesday, June 13 at 1 p.m. in Committee Room 2 on the second floor of Toronto City Hall, 100 Queen Street West.

During the meeting, the Commission will discuss the business case review for establishing a SmartCard system, the estimated operating costs and revenue for the extension of the Yonge-University-Spadina subway northward from Downsview Station, an update on the TTC acquisition of light rail transit vehicles and the first steps towards implementing the Transit City light rail plan, among many other items.

For details, check the agenda and staff reports for the meeting.

On Wednesday, June 13, the City of Mississauga’s General Committee will consider staff recommendations that the City allocate funds from its federal gas tax reserve fund to contribute to constructing an inter-regional transit terminal at Kipling Station.

If the committee and City Council approve the recommendations, Mississauga Transit would join with the TTC and GO Transit to build the terminal. Many MT routes that currently end at Islington Station would end at Kipling instead.

You can find more more details of the staff recommendations on the General Committee agenda. The committee meets at 9 a.m. in the Council Chamber, second floor, Mississauga City Hall, 300 City Centre Drive.
