Open house on VIVA phase 2 this week

The Region of York is holding a public consultation meeting on phase 2 of the VIVA rapid transit project in the North Yonge Street Corridor this week. The corridor includes Yonge Street between 19th Avenue and Green Lane, Davis Drive between Yonge and Leslie Streets and Green Lane between Yonge and the East Gwillimbury GO Station.

VIVA phase 2 service will operate mostly in dedicated transitway lanes, with some segments of the service running in general traffic lanes and in high-occupancy vehicle (HOV) lanes.

At this third public consultation centre, Region staff will describe route alternatives, measures for improving road capacity along Yonge between Mulock Drive and Green Lane and options for the alignment, including station locations.

Throughout the summer, staff will use your input from this public consultation meeting to design the recommended transit and road improvement infrastructure. The Region will provide a final public consultation opportunity for you to view and comment on the design in September 2007.
