St. Clair Streetcars Divert to Bathurst Station

Railfans have a rare opportunity to see St. Clair cars operating southbound on Bathurst and taking passengers into Bathurst station. The Salsa on St. Clair street festival has closed St. Clair Avenue between Winona and Wychwood, forcing significant diversions for a number of the routes in the area until 10:00 p.m. on Sunday.

St. Clair streetcars are operating west from St. Clair station, through St. Clair West station (walking connections with the subway from stops at Bathurst and Tweedsmuir) and south on Vaughan and Bathurst to Bathurst station, returning via Bathurst and St. Clair to the Yonge subway. Replacement shuttle buses for the rest of St. Clair are operating from an on-street loop of Bathurst, Tichester/Heath, Spadina and St. Clair (connections with the St. Clair streetcar at stops at Spadina, Tweedsmuir and Bathurst and the subway at Tweedsmuir and Bathurst) and run west via south on Bathurst, west on Davenport and north on Oakwood to Gunns Loop (one block west of Keele), returning via the reverse route.

312 St. Clair Night buses are operating tonight, diverting via Bathurst, Davenport and Oakwood around the festival site.

126 Christie buses are also affected, operating from Christie station via Christie to Davenport, then west on Davenport to Bathurst and south on Bathurst to Bathurst station. There is no replacement service for the section of Christie Street north of Davenport.

Thanks to Chris White for alerting us to these diversions.
