Queen streetcars divert, July 20 to 23

(Update: Tuesday, July 17, 11:15 a.m.): This listing now updates information on 502 Downtowner service while the TTC is repairing the tracks.

Starting at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, July 20 until 5 a.m. on Monday, July 23, the TTC will repair streetcar tracks in the intersection of Queen Street East and Church Street.

During the repairs, the TTC will divert streetcars on the 301 Queen (overnight), 501 Queen (daytime) and 502 Downtowner services.

Westbound streetcars on all three services will operate along their regular routes to Queen Street East and Parliament Street, then divert southward along Parliament, westward along King Street East, northward along Church Street, westward along Richmond Street East and northward along Victoria Street, resuming their regular routes at Victoria and Queen. Eastbound cars will operate on their regular routes to Queen and Church, then divert southward along Church, eastward along King and northward along Parliament, resuming their regular routes at Parliament and Queen.

(The TTC operates streetcars on the 502 Downtowner route Monday to Friday only until approximately 6:30 p.m.)

The TTC will replace streetcars with buses to serve passengers heading to or from Queen Street East between Parliament and Church Streets. The buses will run 24 hours a day along Queen Streets East and West between University and Broadview Avenues. At University, the buses will loop southward along Simcoe Street, westward along Richmond Street West and northward along Duncan Street to Queen. At Broadview, the buses will loop southward along Broadview, eastward along Eastern Avenue and northward along Carlaw Avenue to Queen.

The repairs will not affect the route and service of streetcars serving the 508 Lake Shore route. Cars on the 508 route only operate at peak periods, and during the afternoon peaks, 508 cars turn through the Richmond / Victoria / Queen / Church loop.
