The next phase of the ongoing City of Toronto and TTC project to rebuild the streetcar tracks on Dundas Street will begin on Monday, July 30. Work will begin on the tracks along Dundas Street East between Victoria and Parliament Streets and the TTC will divert streetcars to Queen Street.

Starting Monday, eastbound streetcars on the 505 Dundas service will begin their routes at College and Dundas Streets, then proceed eastward along Dundas, northward along Lansdowne and eastward along College Street, southward along Ossington Avenue, eastward along Dundas Streets West and East, southward along Victoria Street, eastward along Queen Street East, northward along Parliament Street, eastward along Gerrard Street East and northward along Broadview Avenue to Broadview Station. Westbound streetcars reverse this routing to College and Lansdowne, then continue southward along Lansdowne to Dundas.

The TTC will continue to operate buses to replace the streetcars along the west end of the 505 Dundas route. Eastbound buses on the 505 Dundas route begin at Dundas West Station then proceed south- and westward along Dundas, westward along College and southward along Lansdowne to Dundas. Westbound buses begin at Dundas and Lansdowne and proceed west- and northward along Dundas to Dundas West Station.

Reconstructing the tracks west of College also affects service on the 306 Carlton (overnight) and 506 Carlton (daytime) routes. Eastbound streetcars begin their routes at College and Dundas, then proceed eastward along Dundas, northward along Lansdowne and eastward along College, resuming their regular routes at College and Lansdowne. Westbound cars follow their regular routes to College and Dundas.

The TTC is also operating replacement buses along the west end of the 506 route. Eastbound buses on the 506 Carlton (daytime) route operate from Keele Station, southward along Keele Street and Parkside Drive, eastward along Howard Park Avenue, and then northward along Roncesvalles Avenue and Dundas Street West to Dundas West Station. Westbound buses reverse this routing.

(Update: Saturday, July 28, 1:19 a.m.): Steve Munro sends us the following correction: “since Monday July 23, service was restored west from Bay on Dundas to Bathurst and the current route westbound is Broadview, Gerrard, Parliament, Dundas, Ossington, College to Lansdowne. Eastbound is the reverse. Next Monday, the 30th, construction starts east of Victoria and the diversion via Queen and Victoria (described in all of the posters as starting on July 23) will get underway.”
