TTC replaces St. Clair streetcars with buses

Starting Sunday, August 5, the TTC will operate buses instead of streetcars on the 512 St. Clair route.

The TTC has begun the next phase of its ongoing project to reconstruct the bus and streetcar platforms at St. Clair West Station. On Sunday, TTC work crews will begin repairing the ramps into and out of the station.

Eastbound buses on the 512 St. Clair route will operate from Gunn’s Loop, west of Keele Street eastward along St. Clair Avenue West to St. Clair Station. The buses will not enter St. Clair West Station but will stop on the street at curbside stops near the station at Bathurst Street and Tweedsmuir Avenue, where passengers can transfer to the subway. Westbound buses will reverse this routing.

All other routes serving St. Clair West Station will continue operating along the detours they began on Sunday, June 24.

All southbound buses on the 7 Bathurst route will operate to Bathurst Station, including the peak-period branch that usually operates between Wilson and St. Clair West Stations.

During the daytime, Monday to Friday, buses on the 33 Forest Hill and 126 Christie routes will serve on-street stops along St. Clair Avenue West at Bathurst Street and Tweedsmuir Avenue, where passengers can transfer to and from the subway. During the evenings, Monday to Friday, and all day on weekends, buses on the 126 Christie route will operate from Christie Station on their regular route to St. Clair and Vaughan Road, then detour southward along Vaughan and Bathurst Street to Bathurst Station. Buses heading towards Christie Station will reverse this routing. The TTC does not operate buses on the 33 Forest Hill route on weekday evenings or weekends.

Seven days a week, southbound buses on the 90 Vaughan route will operate on their regular route to Vaughan and St. Clair, then continue southward along Vaughan and Bathurst to Bathurst Station. Northbound buses will reverse this routing.
