Weekend events affect transit, August 10, 11, 12

Special events in Brampton and Toronto will affect transit services this weekend.

The events include: Downtown (Brampton) Farmers Market, The Taste of the Danforth

The events affect these routes:

Brampton Transit: 2 Main

GO Transit: 31 Georgetown

Toronto Transit Commission: 72 Pape, 300 Bloor-Danforth (overnight), 303 Don Mills (overnight)

Brampton

Downtown Farmers Market

The City of Brampton will close Main Street between Theatre Lane and John Street on Saturday, July 28 from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. to accommodate the Downtown Farmers Market.

Brampton Transit will divert buses on the 2 Main route during the event. Southbound buses will operate along their regular route to Main Street North and Nelson Street West, then detour westward along Nelson, southward along George Streets North and South, eastward along Wellington Street West, resuming their regular route at Wellington and Main. Northbound buses reverse the routing.

GO Transit has not announced detours, but it will likely also divert buses on the 31 Georgetown route during the event. Southbound buses would operate along their regular route to Main Street North and Nelson Street West, then detour westward along Nelson, through the Downtown Brampton Bus Terminal, then southward along George Streets North and South, eastward along Wellington Street West, resuming their regular route at Wellington and Main. Northbound buses would reverse this routing.

Toronto

The Taste of the Danforth

The City of Toronto will close Danforth Avenue between Broadview and Jones Avenues — including the entire intersection of Pape and Danforth Avenues — from 11 a.m. on Friday, August 10 until 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, August 12 to accommodate The Taste of the Danforth.

The TTC will divert buses on three routes during the event.

Southbound buses on the 72 Pape service will begin their route at Donlands Station instead of Pape Station during the event. They will operate southward along Donlands Avenue, westward along Danforth Avenue, southward along Jones Avenue and westward along Gerrard Street East, resuming their regular routes at Gerrard and Carlaw Avenue. Northbound buses will reverse this routing.

Westbound buses on the 300 Bloor-Danforth (overnight) service will operate along their regular route to Danforth and Donlands Avenues, then detour northward along Donlands, westward along Mortimer Avenue and southward along Broadview Avenue, resuming their regular route at Broadview and Danforth Avenues. Eastbound buses will reverse this routing.

Southbound buses on the 303 Don Mills (overnight) service will operate along their regular route to Pape and Mortimer Avenues, then detour westward along Mortimer and southward along Broadview Avenue, resuming their regular route at Broadview and Danforth Avenues. Northbound buses will reverse this routing.
