More construction detours affect transit services

(Update: Tuesday, August 14, 10:51 p.m.): A reader reports that Mississauga Transit buses operating on the 66 McLaughlin route continue to travel through Sheridan College.

New construction in Brampton, Courtice (Clarington) and Toronto will affect transit services.

The construction affects these routes:

Brampton Transit52 McMurchy, 53 Kingknoll

Durham Region Transit922 Bloor - Victoria

Mississauga Transit66 McLaughlin

Toronto Transit Commission15 Evans, 42 Cummer

Since August 7, construction at the Davis Campus of Sheridan College has restricted bus access into the campus. The construction will continue for approximately nine weeks.

Brampton Transit has diverted service on two routes during the construction. Buses on the 52 McMurchy and 53 Kingknoll routes will not enter the campus and will pick up and unload passengers on McLaughlin Road.

The construction will also likely affect service on Mississauga Transit’s 66 McLaughlin service, which usually end their routes at Sheridan. Mississauaga Transit has not supplied detour details.

From Monday, August 13 until Friday, August 17, the Municipality of Clarington will close Gord Vinson Avenue between Rosswell Drive and Townline Road South during a construction project.

Durham Region Transit will detour buses during the project.

922 Bloor - Victoria

Westbound buses operate along their regular route.

Eastbound buses operate along their regular route to Townline Road South and Gord Vinson Drive, then detour:

northward along Townline; and then
eastward along Bloor Street to Rosswell Drive / Meadowglen Drive,
resuming their regular route northward along Meadowglen.

Construction projects on Evans and McNicoll Avenues will affect transit services.

Evans Avenue

For three Fridays, starting today, August 10, from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m., CP Rail will be reconstructing its tracks where they cross Evans Avenue, east of Wickman Road. The project continues on Fridays, August 17 and 24.

The TTC will divert buses on its 15 Evans route during the construction. Eastbound buses will operate along their regular routes to Evans Avenue and Wickman Road, then divert northward along Wickman, eastward along the Queensway and southward along Kipling Avenue, resuming their regular route at Kipling and Evans. Westbound buses will reverse this routing.

A long-term construction project on Royal York Road near Norseman Street is also affecting service on 15 Evans route.

The City of Toronto has been reconstructing the roadway along McNicoll Avenue between Pharmacy Avenue and Kennedy Road for several months.

The first phase of the project will end on Monday, August 13, while the second phase of the project will begin on Tuesday, August 14. During the first phase of the project, the City reconstructed the roadway between Birchmount and Kennedy Roads. During the second phase, the City will reconstruct the roadway between Pharmacy and Warden Avenues.

TTC buses operating on the 42 Cummer route will end their current detour and begin another detour during phase 2. The detour will not affect westbound buses. Eastbound buses will operate along their regular route to McNicoll and Pharmacy Avenues, then detour southward along Pharmacy, eastward along Finch Avenue East and northward along Warden Avenue, resuming their regular route at Warden and McNicoll.
