Exhibition Starts Friday, With Special Services, Streetcar Prototype

The annual Canadian National Exhibition starts Friday at the Exhibition grounds, and the TTC is responding by increasing service on routes to the grounds, and adding an express run to carry passengers. The TTC will add service on the 511 Bathurst streetcar between Bathurst station and the CNE, as well as the 29 Dufferin bus from Dufferin station and 509 Harbourfront streetcar from Union station. In addition, buses on the 193 Exhibition Rocket will offer non-stop service between the CNE and Dundas West station.

Patrons visiting the TTC are invited to see a prototype LRT vehicle, manufactured by Siemens that the carmaker hopes will compete for the contract to replace and expand the TTC’s streetcar fleet. The model can be viewed at the Siemens’ display near the Princes’ Gates.
