Veterans ride transit for free on Saturday

Veterans and their companions can ride free on most transit systems in the Greater Toronto Area on Saturday, August 18.

The Canadian National Exhibition hosts its annual Warriors Day, including a parade, on Saturday, and vets and companions can enter the CNE for free that day.

Transit systems that have announced free fares for vets for one day only include: the TTC, GO Transit, Mississauga Transit and York Region Transit.

Generally, the transit systems request veterans to wear their uniforms, medals or something else that would clearly identify them as veterans so they don’t have to pay a fare like other passengers.
