It will: introduce new routes, open a new station, revise services on current routes, re-instate services to colleges and universities, reduce seasonal service, adjust schedules.

The changes affect these routes:

01 Lakeshore West, 09 Lakeshore East, 21 Milton, 29 University of Guelph, 31 Georgetown, 42 Bolton, 43 Wonderland, 46 Highway 407 West, 50 Centennial College / U of T Scarborough, 52 Highway 407 East, 64 Newmarket / York University, 69 Sutton, 81 Port Perry, 93 Durham College / UOIT

Introduce new routes

42 Bolton: Starting Tuesday, September 4, GO will introduce a new branch to its current 42 Bolton route. Buses will begin to operate between Bolton and Malton GO Station, allowing you to connect with GO buses and trains on the 31 Georgetown route. Monday-to-Friday morning peak periods, three southbound buses on the new branch will operate from Queen Street / Highway 50 and Columbia Way. The buses will proceed southward along Queen Street / Highway 50, westward along Steeles Avenue, south- and eastward along Finch Avenue, southward along Highway 427 and then westward along Derry Road to Malton GO Station. Monday-to-Friday afternoon peak periods, five northbound buses will leave Malton and reverse the routing to Bolton. GO will continue to operate its current service between Bolton and Yorkdale and York Mills Stations.

Map of the Bolton-Malton route, with stops

46 Highway 407 West: Starting Tuesday, September 4, GO will extend some trips on the route to the University of Guelph. Buses operating on some trips that currently leave from York University to Bramalea and Meadowvale GO Stations will continue express west from Meadowvale along Highway 401 to the University of Guelph. The new service will operate Monday to Friday daytime only. Several trips will also operate in both directions between U of G and York on Sunday or holiday Monday afternoons and evenings to help you return to Guelph after the weekends. GO will also increase the frequency of service on all branches of the route.

29 University of Guelph: Starting Tuesday, September 4, GO buses will begin to serve this new route between the University of Guelph and Cooksville GO Station, allowing you to connect with buses and trains on the 21 Milton route. Buses on the new route will operate Mondays through Fridays, and also serve the Aberfoyle Park ‘n’ Ride lot on the south-east corner of Brock and McLean Roads, just north of Highway 401, and the Mississauga City Centre. Several trips will also operate in both directions between U of G and Cooksville on Sunday or holiday Monday afternoons to allow you to return to Guelph after the weekends.

Open a new station

21 Milton: GO will open its latest station, Lisgar on Tuesday, September 4. The new station is in the north-west part of Mississauga, at Tenth Line and Argentia Road, in the Highway 401 / Winston Churchill Boulevard area. GO will adjust train schedules to accommodate stops at Lisgar Station.

Revise services on current routes

01 Lakeshore West: Starting Tuesday, September 4, GO will revise the route so that more trains serve Aldershot GO Station. Two eastbound early-morning Monday-to-Friday trains — operating before the morning peak period — will start their trips at Aldershot. Monday-to-Friday midday and evenings, all trains in both directions will start or end their trips at Aldershot instead of Burlington. Monday-to-Friday peak periods, all trains that currently end or begin their trips at the Hamilton GO Centre will continue to serve Aldershot.

The new service hours to Aldershot station will affect the Monday-to-Friday midday and evening schedules of connecting buses that formerly began or ended their trips at Burlington GO Station and served McMaster University or the Hamilton GO Centre. These trips now begin or end at Aldershot. GO has adjusted the schedules of some of these bus trips because of the shorter travelling time to or from Aldershot. However, in addition, some buses will travel express between McMaster University and Burlington only during Monday-to-Friday peak periods, where you can transfer to and from GO trains.

Burlington Transit buses do not currently serve Plains Road between Aldershot and Burlington GO Stations Monday-to-Friday early mornings and late evenings. GO will temporarily provide service along Plains to replace the service that Burlington Transit provides at other times on its 1 Fairview-Plains route. Eastbound trips to Burlington will leave Aldershot at 5:25 a.m., 9:50 and 10:50 p.m., serving all stops to Burlington GO Station. Westbound trips to Aldershot will leave Burlington at 9:43, 10:43, 11:43 p.m. and 12:43 and 1:43 a.m., serving all stops to Aldershot GO Station. These trips will not connect with the bus trips to and from Hamilton that meet GO trains at Aldershot.

On weekends and holidays, all trains and buses on the 01 Lakeshore West route continue to start or end their trips at Oakville GO Station, except for one early-morning bus trip from Hamilton to Union Station and one late-night bus trip from Union to Hamilton.

69 Sutton: Starting Sunday, September 2, GO will revise its current route to offer a fare integration service with York Region Transit. GO will provide local service to the Town of Georgina and allow you to connect directly to southern YRT / Viva services at the Newmarket GO Terminal. Buses will operate on the route daily and buses on some trips will travel north-eastward as far as Beaverton. YRT fares only apply to Highway 48 and Lakeridge Road in Port Bolster. If you want to travel further on the route into Durham Region towards Beaverton, you will have to pay GO fares.

GO operators on this route will accept YRT / Viva fares. If you’re travelling from Newmarket or East Gwillimbury to Georgina you’ll need a two-zone fare. GO Transit operators will accept a valid one- or two-zone tickets, passes and transfers or valid one- or two-zone tickets, passes and pre-purchased zone supplements.

You can only purchase YRT oneRide zone supplements at oneRide or multiRide machines at the Newmarket GO Terminal. If you want to take advantage of YRT’s “50¢ to GO” program, you may purchase a valid YRT/Viva fare integration sticker from GO Transit and attach it to a valid GO Transit monthly pass. If you’re paying cash, the operators will only accept current GO Transit cash fare rates. They will not accept YRT / Viva cash fare rates.

You can board the buses on the 69 Sutton route at any of the GO- and YRT-marked stops along the route. If you’re travelling south- or northbound across the Ravenshoe Road and Holborn Road zone boundaries, operators will require you to pay a two-zone fare. The operator will ask you your destination when you board and the operator will then request you to submit the proper one- or two-zone fare.

Operators will not issue YRT / Viva transfers but instead will issue a GO Transit paper receipt which you can use to transfer to YRT / Viva services in Keswick, East Gwillimbury and Newmarket. If you’re travelling southbound from the Newmarket GO Bus Terminal, you must purchase an additional zone supplement if your trip crosses the southern zone boundary at King Road.
