Burlington service changes start September 2



Burlington Transit will make a number of service changes, starting Sunday, September 2. Burlington Transit buses will not operate on Labour Day, Monday, September 3.


It will: introduce new routes, revise current routes, re-instate services to high schools, adjust schedules.


The changes affect these routes: 1 Fairview-Plains, 7 Tyandaga, 10 New-Maple, 13 New-Rebecca, 15A Walkers, 78 Aldershot High School, 79 Notre Dame High School, 81 Notre Dame High School, 83 Notre Dame High School, 84 Notre Dame High School, 85 Aldershot High School, 86 Notre Dame High School


Introduce new routes

15A Walkers: Starting Sunday, September 2, Burlington Transit will introduce this new Dial-A-Ride service to extend the 15 Walkers route into the Alton Community. You can call 905-333-1113 for Dial-a-Ride service to or from the Highway 407 / Dundas carpool lot, where you can transfer to or from Burlington Transit buses serving routes 6 Headon Forest or 15 Walkers, or GO Transit buses serving the 46 Highway 407 West route. Dial-a-Ride taxicabs operate from the carpool lot, eastward along Dundas Street, northward along Walker’s Line, eastward along Thomas Alton Boulevard and southward along Rotary Way to Dundas. Westbound cabs operate along Dundas to the carpool lot. The 15A Walkers Dial-A-Ride service operates Monday to Saturday, from 6 a.m. until 11 p.m. and Sunday from 9:30 a.m. until 6:30 p.m.


Revise current routes

1 Fairview-Plains: Starting Tuesday, September 4, buses on the route will serve Aldershot GO Station during Monday-to-Friday peak periods only. Eastbound buses will operate along their current route to Plains and Waterdown Roads, then proceed northward along Waterdown, eastward along the station service road into Aldershot Station, through the bus loop, then return westward along the station service road and southward along Waterdown, resuming their regular route at Waterdown and Plains. Westbound buses operate along their current route to Plains and Waterdown, then proceed northwards along Waterdown, eastward then westward through the station, back southward along Waterdown, and resume their regular route at Waterdown and Plains. Burlington Transit will no longer interline buses on this route with buses on the 10 New-Maple route at Appleby GO Station.

GO Transit will supplement service on the 1 Fairview-Plains route by offering service on its 01 Lakeshore West route in both directions along Waterdown and Plains Roads and Fairview Street between Aldershot and Burlington GO Stations when Burlington Transit buses are not operating. GO buses will serve this portion of the route during the early mornings and late evenings. Eastbound trips to Burlington will leave Aldershot at 5:25 a.m., 9:50 and 10:50 p.m., serving all stops to Burlington GO Station. Westbound trips to Aldershot will leave Burlington at 9:43, 10:43, 11:43 p.m. and 12:43 and 1:43 a.m., serving all stops to Aldershot GO Station. These trips will not connect with the bus trips to and from Hamilton that meet GO trains at Aldershot.

13 New-Rebecca: Starting Tuesday, September 4, buses will begin to serve Great Lakes Boulevard in Oakville. Eastbound buses will operate along their regular route to New Street and Burloak Drive, then proceed northwards along Burloak and south-eastward along Great Lakes Boulevard to Rebecca Street, then continue along their regular routes. Westbound buses reverse this routing. Burlington Transit buses will no longer operate along Rebecca Street between Burloak and Great Lakes.

7 Tyandaga: Starting Tuesday, September 4, Burlington Transit will extend the route into the Leighland community. During Monday-to-Friday morning peak periods, southbound buses operate along their current route to Brant Street and Leighland Road, then proceed westward along Leighland, north- and westward along Treeland Street, southward along Highland Street and eastward along Leighland to Brant, then continue on their regular route southwards along Brant. During Monday-to-Friday afternoon peak periods, northbound buses operate along their current route to Brant and Leighland then proceed westward along Leighland, north- and westward along Treeland Street, southward along Highland Street and eastward along Leighland to Brant, then continue northwards along Brant. Northbound buses don’t operate along Leighland during the mornings, and southbound buses don’t operate along Leighland in the afternoons.

Re-instate services to high schools

86 Notre Dame High School: Starting Tuesday, September 4, Burlington Transit will again offer high school special routes for students. Routes 78, 79 and 81 operate towards the schools in the mornings. Routes 83, 84, 85 and 86 operate from the schools in the afternoons.

10 New-Maple: Burlington Transit will no longer interline buses with buses on the 1 Fairview-Plains route at Appleby GO Station.

(Interlining refers to a practice of transit agencies to combine the schedules of two or more routes that share a common terminal, so that the same buses and operators serve the interlined routes.)
