Brampton Transit will change many routes and services starting Monday, September 3.
It will: introduce new routes, extend current routes, shorten current routes, revise current routes, cancel current routes, increase service hours, re-instate services to high schools, adjust schedules.
The changes affect these routes:
1 Queen, 2 Main, 4 Chinguacousy, 5 Bovaird, 7/7A Kennedy, 9 Vodden, 9A Vodden, 9B Williams, 11 Steeles, 11A Steeles, 14 Torbram, 15 Bramalea, 18/18A Dixie, 21 Heart Lake, 22 Springdale, 23 Sandalwood, 24 Van Kirk, 26 Fletcher’s Meadow, 29 Williams, 30 Airport Road, 31 McVean, 50 Gore Road, 51 Steeles West, 53 Kingknoll, 66 Wonderland Express, 77 Finch Subway, 77 Highway 7, 81 Mayfield Secondary, 82 Mayfield Secondary, 83 Mayfield Secondary, 84 Mayfield Secondary, 85 St. Thomas Aquinas, 86 St. Augustine, 87 St. Marguerite d’Youville, 88 Mayfield Secondary, 89 St. Augustine.
Introduce new routes 21 Heart Lake: Starting Tuesday, September 4, Brampton Transit will introduce this new route between Heart Lake Terminal and Williams Parkway East and Rutherford Road North. Buses will only operate along the circular route during Monday-to-Friday peak periods. During morning peak periods, buses on the 21 Heart Lake route will operate counterclockwise around the loop. They will leave Heart Lake Terminal and proceed west- and southward along Conestoga Drive, eastward along Bovaird Drive East, southward along Kennedy Road North, and then east- and southward along Rutherford Road North to Williams Parkway East. Northbound buses will proceed eastward along Williams, northward along Southlake Boulevard and Heart Lake Road, westward along Sandalwood Parkway East, northward along Kennedy, and westward along Conestoga into the Heart Lake Terminal. During afternoon peak periods, the buses will reverse this routing, operating clockwise around the loop. The new route replaces the current 26 Fletcher’s Meadow route along Conestoga Drive between Sandalwood and Wexford and the current 22 Springdale route along Heart Lake. and introduces transit service along Conestoga between Wexford and Bovaird and along Southlake. 31 McVean: Starting Tuesday, September 4, Brampton Transit will introduce this new route, between Airport and Mayfield Roads and The Gore Road and Queen Street East. Buses will only operate along the route during Monday-to-Friday peak periods. Starting from Airport and Mayfield, southbound buses will operate eastward along Mayfield, southward along Goreway Drive, eastward along Castlemore Road, southward along McVean Drive, eastward along Ebenezer Road and southward along The Gore Road to Queen. Northbound buses will operate westward along Queen, northward along McVean, westward along Castlemore, northward along Goreway, westward along Mayfield, southward along Maisonneuve Boulevard and Mount Royal Circle, westward along Lacoste Boulevard and northward along Airport Road to Mayfield Road. The new route introduces transit service along Mayfield Road between Maisonneuve and Goreway, along Goreway and along Castlemore between McVean and Ebenezer. Buses operating on the 30 Airport Road route also use the Mayfield / Maisonneuve / Mount Royal / Lacoste loop. 51 Steeles West: Starting Monday, September 3, Brampton Transit will split its current 11 Steeles route at Shoppers World Terminal. The new 51 Steeles West route replaces the entire 11 Steeles route west of Shoppers World, although buses operating on the new route will travel along a different west-end loop. Eastbound buses will operate from Steeles Avenue West and Hereford Street, proceeding eastward along Steeles and into Shoppers World Terminal. Westbound buses will operate from the Shoppers World Terminal and proceed westward along Steeles, southward along Financial Drive, westward along Meadowvale Boulevard, northward along Mississauga Road, westward along Hallstone Road and northward along Hereford Street to Steeles. The new route introduces Brampton Transit service along Financial Drive between Hallstone and Meadowvale, Meadowvale and Mississauga. (Mississauga Transit buses also serve part of this area.) Brampton Transit buses will no longer serve Hallstone Road between Financial and Mississauga. 29 Williams: Starting Tuesday, September 4, Brampton Transit will rename and revise the former 9B Williams route. Eastbound 29 Williams buses will operate from Mount Pleasant GO Station westward along Bovaird Drive, southward along Ashby Field Road, westward along James Potter Road and Williams Parkway and then resuming the current 9B Williams route at Williams and Pertosa Drive. Westbound buses will reverse this routing. The revised routing introduces transit service along James Potter and Ashby Field Roads and Williams Parkway west of Pertosa Drive. The revised routing removes transit service from Pertosa.
Extend current routes 15 Bramalea: Starting Monday, September 3, buses will begin their route at Father Tobin and Bramalea Roads. Southbound buses will operate southward along Bramalea, and then follow their current route south of Bramalea Road and Dewside Drive. Northbound buses will follow their current route to Dewside and Fernforest Drives, then proceed northwards along Fernforest and westward along Father Tobin to Bramalea. Buses operating on the 18 Dixie route will serve Fernforest Drive between Dewside and Sandalwood Parkway. Extending the route introduces transit service along Fernforest, along Bramalea between Father Tobin and Dewside and along Father Tobin between Fernforest and Bramalea. 18/18A Dixie: Starting Monday, September 3, buses will begin their route at Father Tobin Road and Fernforest Drive. Southbound buses will operate southward along Fernforest, and then follow their current route south of Fernforest Drive and Octillo Boulevard. Northbound buses will follow their current route to Dixie Road and Octillo Boulevard, then continue northwards along Dixie and westward along Father Tobin to Fernforest. Extending the route introduces transit service on Dixie and Fernforest north of Octillo and Father Tobin between Dixie and Fernforest. The change also removes transit service from Octillo. 23 Sandalwood: Starting Monday, September 3, buses will end their route at McVean Drive and Cottrelle Boulevard. Eastbound buses will operate along their current route to Castlemore Road and Goreway Drive, then proceed southward along Goreway, eastward along Cottrelle, northward along Red Willow Road, eastward along Lexington Road and southward along McVean to Cottrelle. Westbound buses operate westward along Cottrelle and northward on Goreway, resuming their current route at Goreway and Castlemore. The new 31 McVean route will provide transit service along Castlemore Road. Extending the route introduces transit service along Goreway, Cottrelle and Lexington, supplements the new 31 McVean route along McVean and reverses the direction of transit service along Red Willow between Cottrelle and Lexington. The change also removes transit service from Red Willow between Castlemore and Lexington. Brampton Transit will also increase the service hours of this route. 22 Springdale: Starting Tuesday, September 4, buses will begin their route at Torbram and Father Tobin Roads. Southbound buses will operate eastward along Father Tobin and southward along Mountainash Road, resuming their current route at Mountainash and Stonecrest Drive. Northbound buses will operate along their current route to Mountainash and Sandalwood Parkway East, then continue westward along Sandalwood and northward along Torbram to Father Tobin. Extending the route introduces transit service along Torbram, between Australia Drive and Father Tobin, Father Tobin between Torbram and Mountainash and Mountainash between Father Tobin and Eagle Plains Drive. The change also removes transit service from Eagle Plains and Stonecrest. Brampton Transit will also shorten the west end of the route.
Shorten routes 22 Springdale: Starting Tuesday, September 4, buses will operate directly to and from Trinity Common Terminal. Eastbound buses leave the Terminal northward along Great Lakes Drive and then proceed on the current route eastward along Peter Robertson Boulevard. Westbound buses reverse this routing. Buses on the 23 Sandalwood route will continue to serve Great Lakes north of Peter Robinson. Buses on the new 21 Heart Lake route will serve Heart Lake Road. Brampton Transit will also extend the east end of the route. 11 Steeles: Starting Monday, September 3, Brampton Transit will split the current route. Buses operating on the 11 Steeles route will not travel west of Shoppers World Terminal. Buses operating on the new 51 Steeles West route will replace all current 11 Steeles service west of Shoppers World. With this change, Brampton Transit will cancel the 11A branch.
Revise routes 26 Fletcher’s Meadow: Starting Tuesday, September 4, eastbound buses will operate along their current route to Sandalwood Parkway and Hurontario Street, then continue eastward along Sandalwood and north- and eastward along Conestoga Drive to the Heart Lake Terminal. Westbound buses will reverse this routing. Buses operating on the new 21 Heart Lake route will replace the 26 Fletcher’s Meadow route on Conestoga, between Sandalwood and Wexford Drive. Brampton Transit buses will no longer serve Wexford Drive. 50 Gore Road: Starting Monday, September 3, Brampton Transit will revise the current route so that buses no longer operate along Tyler Avenue and Thorndale Road. Southbound buses will operate from Cottrelle Boulevard and The Gore Road directly to Ebenezer Road and then proceed eastward to Via Romano Way. It will also adjust the schedules, increasing the frequency of service. 77 Highway 7: Starting Monday, September 3, Brampton Transit will adopt this name for the current 77 Finch Subway route. The route will not change. 53 Kingknoll: Starting Monday, September 3, Brampton Transit will realign the Sheridan College portion of the route. 9 Vodden: Starting Monday, September 3, Brampton Transit will renumber its current 9A Vodden route as 9 Vodden. The route will not change.
Cancel routes 11A Steeles: Friday, August 31 was the last day of service on the route. Starting Monday, September 3 all buses on the 11 Steeles service will operate between Shoppers World and Humber College, which is the current route of the 11A branch. The new 51 Steeles West route will replace all 11 Steeles service west of Shoppers World. 9B Williams: Friday, August 31 was the last day of service on the route. Starting Tuesday, September 4, Brampton Transit will replace this route with the new 29 Williams route. 66 Wonderland Express: Monday, September 3 will be the last day of service in 2007 for this seasonal route between the Bramalea Transit Terminal and Canada’s Wonderland.
Increase service hours 23 Sandalwood: Starting Monday, September 3, Brampton Transit buses will begin operating during the evenings along this route. Brampton Transit will also extend the route.
Re-instate services to high schools Starting Tuesday, September 4, Brampton Transit will re-instate several special routes to and from local high schools. High school routes 81, 82, 83, 84 and 88 serve Mayfield Secondary School. High school routes 86 and 89 serve St. Augustine high school. High school route 87 serves St. Marguerite d’Youville high school. High school route 85 serves St. Thomas Aquinas high school.
Adjust schedules 30 Airport Road: Starting Monday, September 3, Brampton Transit will adjust the schedule and interline the route with the 14 Torbram route: southbound trips will arrive at Westwood Mall as Route 30 and depart as Route 14 northbound. 5 Bovaird: More Monday-to-Friday early-morning and late-evening trips, starting Tuesday, September 4; More frequent (every 15 minutes) Monday-to-Friday peak period service, starting Tuesday, September 4; More frequent (every 30 minutes) Sunday service, starting September 9.
15 Bramalea: Brampton Transit will adjust the schedule and revise the route, starting Monday, September 3.
4 Chinguacousy: More Monday-to-Friday early-morning and late-evening trips, starting Tuesday, September 4; later Saturday-and-Sunday evening trips, starting September 8. 18/18A Dixie: More Monday-to-Friday early-morning and late-evening trips, starting Tuesday, September 4.
