Weekend events affect transit, October 6 and 7



Special events in Brampton and Toronto will affect transit service this weekend.

The events include: Downtown (Brampton) Farmers Market, Maple Leaf Sports Tailgate Party


The events affect these routes:

Brampton Transit: 2 Main

GO Transit: 16 Hamilton QEW Express, 21 Milton, 31 Georgetown, 65 Barrie-Bradford, 71 Stouffville

Toronto Transit Commission: 6 Bay, 320 Yonge (overnight)


Brampton

Downtown Farmers Market

On Saturday, October 6, from 6 a.m. until 2 p.m., the City of Brampton will close Main Street between Theatre Lane and John Street to accommodate the City of Brampton’s Downtown Farmers Market. This will be the last farmers market in 2007.

Brampton Transit will divert transit service during the event.

2 Main: Southbound buses will operate along their regular route to Main Street North and Nelson Street West, then detour westward along Nelson, southward along George Streets North and South, eastward along Wellington Street West, resuming their regular route at Wellington and Main. Northbound buses reverse the routing.


Toronto

Maple Leaf Sports Tailgate Party

From 7 a.m. on Saturday, October 6 until 3 a.m. on Sunday, October 7, The City of Toronto will close Bay Street between Front Street West and Lake Shore Boulevard West to accommodate Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment Limited’s Tailgate Party. The event celebrates the Toronto Maple Leafs’ game against the Montreal Canadiens at the Air Canada Centre.

GO Transit and the TTC will revise transit services during the event.

71 Stouffville: GO’s Union Station bus terminal will be open, although passengers should expect some delays. Buses heading towards the terminal will operate northward along York Street, eastward along Front Street West and southward along Bay Street to reach the terminal. Buses leaving the terminal will follow their regular routes.

TTC

6 Bay: Southbound buses will operate along their regular route to Bay Street and Wellington Street West, then detour westward along Wellington, southward along University Avenue and York Street and then eastward along Queens Quay West, resuming their regular route at Queens Quay and Bay. Northbound buses will operate along their regular route to Queens Quay West and Bay, then continue westward along Queens Quay, northward along York Street and eastward along Front Street West, resuming their regular route at Front and Bay Streets.

320 Yonge (overnight): The event will not affect southbound buses, but some early Sunday morning northbound trips may detour. They’ll operate along their regular route to Queens Quay West and Bay, then continue westward along Queens Quay, northward along York Street and eastward along Front Street West, resuming their regular route at Front and Bay Streets.
