Oakville Transit (OT) recently announced that it has partnered with Hy-Drive Technologies Limited to assess the potential for hydrogen generating systems on OT buses. Testing is currently underway for the pilot project to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and fuel consumption.
OT is the first public transit agency in North America to test the system on its fleet. If the testing supports the product claims, it will implement the technology on a larger scale.
The current testing phase will run until November 2007, at which point OT and Hy-Drive will evaluate the results. If the testing meets required benchmarks, OT will further evaluate the system under broader operating conditions.
