DRT service changes start December 3



Starting Monday, December 3, Durham Region Transit will revise its services in Whitby. The changes will eliminate the current Dial-a-Bus service to Port Whitby and the Whitby Industrial area and improve evening service.

On Monday, DRT Centre will: introduce a new route; cancel current routes; revise the schedules of a current route; decrease service hours of a current route; and increase service hours of current routes.


The changes affect these routes: DRT Centre4 Anderson, 5 Thickson-Garrard, 22 Bloor-Victoria Eastbound, 23 Bloor-Victoria Westbound, 308 Whitby Shores, 318 Otter Creek-Garden-Whitby Shores, 922 Bloor-Victoria, Industrial Dial-a-Ride


Introduce new a route

Starting Monday, December 3, DRT Centre will replace its current 22 Bloor-Victoria Eastbound, 23 Bloor-Victoria Westbound and Industrial Dial-a-Ride routes with a new route operating between south-east Courtice and Oshawa and Whitby GO Stations.

Westbound buses on the new 922 Bloor-Victoria route begin their trips at Robert Adams and Glenabbey Drives, then follow the current 23 Bloor-Victoria Westbound route westward to Victoria Street East and Thickson Road South. Buses then proceed southward along Thickson, west- and northward along William Smith Drive, eastward along Wentworth Street, northward along Thickson, westward along Victoria, southward along South Blair Street, westward along Water Street and then northward along Brock Street South to Whitby GO Station. Eastbound buses on the new route begin their trips at Whitby GO Station then reverse the westbound routing to Robert Adams and Glenabbey. DRT Centre will operates buses on the new route during Monday-to-Friday peak periods only.


Cancel current routes

22 Bloor-Victoria Eastbound:
23 Bloor-Victoria Westbound:
Industrial Dial-a-Ride: Starting Monday, December 3, the new 922 Bloor-Victoria route will replace these services.


Revise the schedule of a current route

5 Thickson-Garrard: Starting Monday, December 3, buses on this route will operate on a new schedule.


Decrease service hours of a current route

308 Whitby Shores: Starting Monday, December 3, buses on this route will operate Monday-to-Friday during the daytime only. Buses operating on the 318 Otter Creek-Garden-Whitby Shores route will serve the same area during Monday-to-Friday evenings.


Increase service hours of current routes

4 Anderson: Starting Monday, December 3, buses will operate on this route on Monday-to-Friday evenings.

318 Otter Creek-Garden-Whitby Shores: Starting Monday, December 3, buses on this route, which currently operate only on weekends, will also operate on Monday-to-Friday evenings, replacing evening service on the current 308 Whitby Shores route.
