St. Clair West Station re-opens on December 13

Update, December 7, 9:15 a.m.: this post now displays updated information on revised bus service on the 33 Forest Hill route.

Update, December 6, 1:30 p.m.: this post now displays updated information: the TTC originally announced that it would re-open the station on Monday, December 10.

On Thursday, December 13, the TTC will partially re-open its bus and streetcar platform in St. Clair West Station.

Buses operating on the 7A Bathurst, 126 Christie, 33 Forest Hill, 512 St. Clair and 90 Vaughan routes will again run through the station terminal. Buses operating the 33 Forest Hill route will leave the station along the westbound ramp, then continue wesrward along St. Clair Avenue West, northward along Bathurst Street and then eastward along Tichester Road and Heath Street West to Spadina Road, resuming their regular route northward along Spadina.

Buses operating on the 512 St. Clair route will operate between St. Clair West Station and Gunn’s Loop at St. Clair and Gunn’s Road, west of Keele Street.

Streetcars operating on the 512 St. Clair route will operate straight through St. Clair West Station, but not loop in the station. The cars will continue to run between St. Clair Station (at Yonge Street) and Oakwood Avenue, serving curbside stops. Since the streetcars are not looping at St. Clair West Station, only westbound streetcars will unload passengers inside the station terminal.

You can continue to board streetcars and buses on the street near St. Clair West Station at the Tweedsmuir Avenue or Bathurst island stops.

If you’re traveling eastbound on 512 St. Clair buses and want to to travel beyond St. Clair West Station, transfer to a 512 St. Clair streetcar at Christie Street, Vaughan Road or Bathurst Street. You won’t be able to transfer to an eastbound car at St. Clair West Station.

If you’re traveling westbound on 512 St. Clair streetcars and want to travel beyond Oakwood Avenue, transfer to a westbound 512 St. Clair bus at St. Clair West Station.

If you pay your fare by ticket, token or cash, you’ll need a paper transfer to change between buses and streetcars.

Construction continues on rebuilding the streetcar track allowance between McRoberts Avenue, near Caledonia Road, and Westmount Avenue, near Dufferin Street. The project will continue until spring 2008, so buses will continue to replace streetcars on St. Clair Avenue West, west of Oakwood Avenue until then.
