Seasonal events in Markham and Pickering will affect transit service today.


The events affect these routes:

Durham Region Transit: DRT WestM2A/12 Village East / Brock, M10 Ajax, 2A Village East, R10 Ajax, 181 Liverpool / Finch / Highway 2 / Glendale / Maple Ridge , 183 Amberlea

York Region Transit: 41 Unionville Local, 202 Unionville GO Shuttle and 302 Unionville Express


Markham (Unionville)

Tonight, Friday, December 7 from 5:30 until 8 p.m., the Town of Markham will close Carlton Road between Pomander Road and Old Ivy Lane and Main Street Unionville between Library and Station Lanes to accommodate the 27th annual Unionville Old Tyme Christmas and Candle Light Parade.

YRT will detour transit services during the event.

302 Unionville Express: Buses will operate along their regular route to Carlton Road and Fred Varley Drive, then detour southward along Fred Varley to Kreighoff Avenue, resuming their regular route westward along Kreighoff.

202 Unionville GO Shuttle: Buses will operate along their regular route to Main Street Unionville and Highway 7, then detour westward along Highway 7, northward along Sciberras Road, then west- and northward along Fred Varley Drive to Carlton Road, resuming their regular route westward along Carlton.

41 Unionville Local: Westbound buses operate along their regular route to Carlton and Kennedy Roads, then detour southward along Kennedy, westward along Highway 7, northward along Sciberras Road and then west- and northward along Fred Varley Drive to Carlton, resuming their regular route westward along Carlton. Eastbound buses operate along their regular route to Carlton and Fred Varley, then detour southward along Fred Varley, westward along Kreighoff Avenue, southward along Village Parkway, eastward along Highway 7 and then northward along Kennedy Road to Carlton, resuming their regular route eastward along Carlton.


Pickering

On Friday, December 7 from 4:30 until 11 p.m., the City of Pickering will close The Esplanade North and from 8 a.m. until 11 p.m. the City will close The Esplanade South to accommodate the Celebrate Winter! Christmas tree lighting event.

Durham Region Transit will detour bus services during the event.

M10 Ajax:
R10 Ajax: Buses leaving the Pickering Town Centre will operate along their regular route to Glenanna Drive and The Esplanade South, then continue southward along Glenanna, eastward along Pickering Parkway and then northward along Valley Farm Road to The Esplanade South, resuming their regular route northward along Valley Farm.

183 Amberlea: Buses leaving the Pickering Town Centre at 20 minutes after the hour this evening will operate along their regular route to Glenanna Drive and The Esplanade South, then continue southward along Glenanna, eastward along Pickering Parkway and then northward along Valley Farm Road to The Esplanade South, resuming their regular route northward along Valley Farm.

181 Liverpool / Finch / Highway 2 / Glendale / Maple Ridge: Buses leaving the Pickering Town Centre at 17 minutes after the hour this evening will operate along their regular route to Glenanna Drive and The Esplanade South, then continue southward along Glenanna, eastward along Pickering Parkway and then northward along Valley Farm Road to The Esplanade South, resuming their regular route northward along Valley Farm.

M2A/12 Village East / Brock: Buses travelling towards the Pickering Town Centre during the middle of the day will operate along their regular route to Kingston Road (Highway 2) and Valley Farm Road, then continue westward along Kingston and then southward along Glenanna Drive to The Esplanade North, resuming their regular route southward along Glenanna.

R2A Village East: Buses travelling towards the Pickering Town Centre during the rush hours will operate along their regular route to Liverpool Road South and Pickering Parkway, then continue northward along Liverpool, eastward along Kingston Road (Highway 2), southward along Glenanna Drive and then eastward along Pickering Parkway to Valley Farm Road, resuming their regular route eastward along Pickering.
