Downed power lines divert GO buses in Newmarket

Downed power lines are blocking Yonge Street in Newmarket, so GO Transit is diverting buses on its 65 Barrie-Bradford route.

Southbound buses are operating along their regular route until Yonge and Eagle Streets and then detouring eastward along Eagle, southward along Sandford Street and then westward along William Roe Boulevard to Yonge, resuming their regular route southward along Yonge. Northbound buses are reversing this routing.

If Yonge Street is still blocked after 4 p.m., GO will likely also divert buses on its 61 Newmarket B Express route.

York Region Transit has not announced detours, but the closure will likely affect service on YRT’s Viva Blue and 98 Yonge North routes.
