Barrie Transit service changes start December 17

On Monday, December 17, GO Transit trains will again travel to Barrie. Barrie Transit will revise its services to help its passengers connect with the trains at the new Barrie South GO Station.

Barrie Transit will: introduce new routes, increase service hours on current routes.

The changes affect these routes: 39 Hurst, 60 Holly GO Train Shuttle, 61 Allandale GO Train Shuttle.

Introduce new routes

61 Allandale GO Train Shuttle: Buses will leave the Allandale Recreation Centre at 5:15 a.m., Mondays to Fridays, arriving at the train station at 5:30 a.m. The buses then operate every 30 minutes, with the last bus leaving Allandale at 6:45 a.m. In the evenings, the buses will operate on a flexible schedule, leaving the station fifteen minutes after each train arrives.

On Monday-to-Friday mornings, buses operate from Allandale eastward along Little Avenue, southward along Huronia Road, eastward along Big Point Road, southward along Dean Avenue, eastward along Country Lane and then southward along Yonge Street to Barrie South GO Station. On Monday-to-Friday evenings, the buses operate along the reverse routing to Allandale.

60 Holly GO Train Shuttle: Buses will leave the Holly Community Centre at 5:15 a.m. Mondays to Fridays, arriving at the train station at 5:35 a.m. The buses then operate every 30 minutes, with the last bus leaving Holly at 6:45 a.m. In the evenings, the buses will operate on a flexible schedule, leaving the station fifteen minutes after each train arrives.

On Monday-to-Friday mornings, buses operate from Holly westward along Mapleton Drive, southward along Marcellus Drive, eastward along Mapleview Drives West and East, north- and eastward along Country Lane and then southward along Yonge Street to Barrie South GO Station. On Monday-to-Friday evenings, the buses operate along the reverse routing to Holly.

Increase service hours

39 Hurst: Monday-to-Friday buses will begin service 35 minutes earlier than currently at 5:10 a.m. — instead of 5:45 a.m. — from the Barrie Downtown Terminal. The first bus operating on the route will arrive at Barrie South GO Station at 5:40 a.m. Buses will continue to leave downtown for the GO station every 30 minutes until 6:40 a.m. Starting at 7:15 a.m. buses on the route will resume their regular schedule, operating every 30 minutes from downtown at 15 and 45 minutes after each hour.

The bus leaving downtown at 6:40 a.m. will be the last morning bus to connect with the GO train. It will arrive at the station at 7:10 a.m., then wait at the station before resuming its regular daily schedule back to downtown.

Most Barrie Transit buses begin operating at 5:45 or 6 a.m. and provide service to the Barrie Downtown Terminal. At the Downtown Terminal, passengers can transfer to buses operating on the 39 Hurst route to reach Barrie South GO Station or they can board GO Transit buses operating on the 65 Barrie-Bradford route that also travel to the Barrie South GO Station. If you have a valid GO ticket or pass, you can ride Barrie Transit for free to the GO station.
