Ontario Government announces $400 million in transit infrastructure funding

Yesterday, Thursday, December 13, Ontario Finance Minister Dwight Duncan announced $400 million in new transit funding which will support some of the projects that Metrolinx — the Greater Toronto Transportation Authority — approved on November 23.

Duncan’s announcements didn’t specify which particular projects he would fund, but the money will go to transit agencies across the province to help keep the systems in a “state of good repair”. That will help the TTC, GO Transit and other transit systems to fix tracks, signals and switches and is also part of the $17.5 billion touted for transit in the Greater Toronto Area and Hamilton from the Government of Ontario’s Move Ontario 2020 plan for the next decade.
