DRT decreases service, December 31



Starting Monday, December 31, Durham Region Transit will reduce and revise services to a number of areas in the Region.


DRT will: cancel routes; decrease service hours of current routes; and revise current routes.


The changes affect these routes:

Regional: 915 Taunton

DRT West (Ajax and Pickering): Flag Bus 3, M3 Amberlea, M7 Rosebank, M10 Ajax, M24 Harwood, M26 Duffins, R10 Ajax

DRT Centre (Whitby): 302 Brock-Brooklin

DRT East (Clarington and Oshawa): 2 King, 4 College Hill, 5 Central Park, 14 Oshawa Community Bus


Cancel routes

M10 Ajax: Friday, December 27 will be the last day of service for this route which currently operates between the rush hours from Monday to Friday. Buses operating on the 183 Amberlea-Ajax route will continue to serve the area during Monday to Friday evenings and all day on weekends.

R10 Ajax: Friday, December 27 will be the last day of service for this route which currently operates during Monday-to-Friday rush hours. Buses operating on the 183 Amberlea-Ajax route will continue to serve the area during Monday-to-Saturday evenings and all day Sundays and holidays.

M3 Amberlea: Friday, December 27 will be the last day of service for this route which currently operates between the rush hours from Monday to Friday and until 5:30 p.m. on Saturdays. Buses operating on the R3 Amberlea route will continue to serve the area during Monday-to-Friday rush hours. Buses operating on the 183 Amberlea-Ajax route will continue to serve the area Monday-to-Saturday evenings and all day Sundays and holidays. DRT will also revise the M7 Rosebank route so that buses will better serve the Dunbarton area between the Monday-to-Friday rush hours.


Decrease service hours of current routes

302 Brock-Brooklin: Starting Sunday, January 6, buses operating on this route will end service one hour earlier on Sundays at 10:20 p.m. instead of 11:20 p.m.

5 Central Park: Friday, December 27 will the last day that buses on this route operate between the rush hours Mondays to Fridays. Starting Saturday, December 28, buses on this route will operate all day Saturdays and during rush hours Mondays to Fridays only.

4 College Hill: Friday, December 27 will the last day that buses on this route operate between the rush hours Mondays to Fridays. Starting Saturday, December 28, buses on this route will operate all day Saturdays and during rush hours Mondays to Fridays only.

M26 Duffins: Friday, December 27 will be the last day of Monday-to-Friday service for this route which currently operates between the rush hours. The route will continue to operate during the daytime on Saturdays. Buses operating on a revised M24 Harwood route will serve the area between the rush hours from Monday to Friday. Buses operating on the 283 Duffins-Harwood route will serve the area on Monday-to-Saturday evenings and all day on Sunday.

Flag Bus 3: Starting Monday, December 31, the buses will operate only from 10:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., Mondays to Saturdays, instead of the current hours from 8:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m.

2 King: Starting Sunday, January 6, buses on this route will end service an hour earlier at 8:32 p.m. instead of 9:32 p.m. on Sundays.

14 Oshawa Community Bus: Starting Monday, December 31, buses on this route will begin service an hour earlier at 10 a.m. instead of 11 a.m. Mondays to Fridays.

915 Taunton: Starting Saturday, January 5, buses will operate on Saturdays every hour only until 10 p.m. (Currently, buses operate every half hour until 7 p.m. and then every hour until 1 a.m. on Saturdays.)


Revise current routes

M24 Harwood: Starting Monday, December 31, between the Monday-to-Friday rush hours, buses will operate from the Ajax GO Station south- and eastward along Westney Road South, eastward along Dreyer Drive, west- and southward along Clover Ridge Drives East and West, eastward along Lake Driveway West, northward along Harwood Avenue South to the Ajax Plaza terminal, then continue southward along Harwood, westward along Bayly Street and then northward along Westney to Ajax GO Station. Revising this route will serve the area that buses operating on the M26 Duffins route currently serve. The route of buses operating on the M24 Harwood route will not change on Saturdays.

M7 Rosebank: Starting Monday, December 31, DRT will reverse the route for buses on this route operating between the rush hours Mondays to Fridays and from 6:55 a.m. until 5:55 p.m. Saturdays. Buses will begin their trips at the Pickering Town Centre, then proceed southward along Glenanna Drive, eastward along The Esplanade North, northward along Valley Farm Road, westward along Kingston Road, northward along White’s Road, westward along Sheppard Avenue and Twyn Rivers Drive, northward along Woodview Avenue, eastward along Pine Grove Avenue, southward along Oakburn Street, eastward along Waterford Gate, southward along Altona Road, eastward along Kingston Road, southward along Rougemount Drive, eastward along Toynevale Road, northward along Rosebank Road, eastward along Granite Court, northward along White’s Road, and then eastward along Bayly Street to the Pickering GO Station. Revising the route will help passengers better reach the Dunbarton area that the M3 Amberlea route currently serves. The R7 Rosebank route serves this area during Monday-to-Friday rush hours. The 182 Bay Ridges-West Shore-Rosebank-Finch-Highway 2 route serves this area Monday-to-Saturday evenings and all day Sundays and holidays.
