The Hamilton Street Railway and York Region Transit will ring in the new year by increasing all fares starting today, Tuesday, January 1, 2008. Mississauga Transit will increase the cost of seniors passes today.
In Hamilton, the HSR has increased the adult cash fare to $2.40. You can continue to use 2007 tickets until March 31, if you put ten cents into the farebox along with your old ticket. After March 31, you’ll have to visit the HSR ticket office at the Hamilton GO Centre if you want the HSR to refund the cost of old tickets.

Mississauga Transit increased the cost of seniors passes, starting in the December, 2007 sales period. A 2008 annual seniors pass increases to $390. A 2008 monthly seniors pass increases to $39.

In York Region, YRT has increased the adult cash fare to $3.00 if you’re only traveling in one zone and to $4.00 if you’re traveling in two zones. You can continue to use 2007 tickets throughout 2008.
