Family Day holiday service, February 18

Update, February 12, 5 a.m: Ooops! Monday is February 18, not 19 as we posted earlier. Thanks to Mike Vainchtain of Mike’s Transit Stop for pointing out the error.

Last year, the Ontario Government approved a regulation to add an extra statutory holiday on the third Monday of February. The regulation adjusted the Employment Standards Act to include Family Day as a statutory holiday and guaranteed many Ontario workers nine statutory holidays with pay each year.

This year, Monday, February 18 will be Family Day in Ontario. Many people will have a day off work and elementary, secondary and post-secondary institutions will be closed. Transit agencies are adjusting services for the day.
