DRT service changes start March 3



Durham Region Transit will revise several routes, starting Monday, March 3. Many of the changes decrease service for passengers.

Specifically, DRT will: revise a current route, increase the frequency of service on a current route, decrease the frequency of service of current routes, increase the hours of service of current routes and decrease the hours of service of current routes.


The changes affect these routes: DRT East4 College Hill, 8 Stevenson, 11 Grandview, 12 Adelaide, 21 Townline, 501 Aspen Springs, 502 Liberty; Regional915 Taunton, 916 Rossland, 922 Bloor / Victoria.


Revise a current route

922 Bloor / Victoria: Starting Monday, March 3, westbound buses will operate along their current route to Wentworth and Forbes Streets in Whitby, then proceed northward along Forbes, westward along Tricont Avenue to Thickson Road South, resuming their regular route northward along Thickson. Eastbound buses will reverse this routing. Buses will no longer operate along Thickson, south of Tricont, or along William Murray Drive.


Increase the frequency of service on a current route

915 Taunton: Starting Monday, March 3, DRT will increase the frequency of service during Monday-to-Friday rush hours to every 15 minutes. It will also decrease the frequency of service at other times of the week and also decrease the hours of service on the route.


Decrease the frequency of service on current routes

916 Rossland: Starting Monday, March 3, DRT will decrease the frequency of service to every 30 minutes Mondays to Fridays from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. and to every hour late Monday-to-Friday evenings after 10 p.m. DRT will also decrease the hours of service on the route.

915 Taunton: Starting Monday, March 3, DRT will decrease the frequency of service to every 30 minutes Mondays to Fridays from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. and to every hour late Monday-to-Friday evenings after 10 p.m. DRT will also increase the frequency of service during Monday-to-Friday rush hours and decrease the hours of service on the route.

21 Townline: Starting Monday, March 3, DRT will decrease the frequency during Monday-to-Friday afternoon rush hours to every hour. It will decrease the hours of service at certain times of the week — cancelling service during Monday-to-Friday morning rush hours. It will also increase the hours of service at other times of the week — introducing new service between 9 a.m. and 2:30 p.m Mondays to Fridays and early Monday-to-Friday evenings before 10 p.m. Buses will operate along the route every hour from 9 a.m. until 10 p.m. Mondays to Fridays only.


Increase the hours of service on a current route

21 Townline: Starting Monday, March 3, DRT will introduce new service between 9 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Mondays to Fridays and early Monday-to-Friday evenings before 10 p.m. Buses will operate along the route every hour from 9 a.m. until 10 p.m. Mondays to Fridays. DRT will also decrease the hours of service by canceling service during Monday-to-Friday morning rush hours and decrease the frequency of service during Monday-to-Friday afternoon rush hours.


Decrease the hours of service on current routes

12 Adelaide: Starting Monday, March 3, buses will not operate along the route after 10 p.m. Mondays to Saturdays.

501 Aspen Springs: Starting Monday, March 3, buses will not operate along the route after 6:15 p.m. Mondays to Saturdays.

4 College Hill: February 24 was the last day that buses operated along the route on Sunday. Starting Monday, March 3, buses will operate along the route only during Monday-to-Friday rush hours and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m.

11 Grandview: Starting Monday, March 3, buses will not operate along the route after 10 p.m. Mondays to Saturdays.

502 Liberty: Starting Monday, March 3, buses will not operate along the route after 6:15 p.m. Mondays to Saturdays.

916 Rossland: Starting Monday, March 3, buses will not operate along the route after 10 p.m. Mondays to Fridays. DRT will also decrease the frequency of service at certain times of the week.

8 Stevenson: Starting Monday, March 3, buses will not operate along the route after 10 p.m. Mondays to Saturdays.

915 Taunton: Starting Monday, March 3, buses will not operate along the route after 10 p.m. Mondays to Fridays. DRT will also increase the frequency of service during Monday-to-Friday rush hours and decrease the frequency of service during other times of the week.

21 Townline: Friday, February 29 will be the last day that buses operate along the route during Monday-to-Friday morning rush hours. Starting Monday, March 3, DRT will increase the hours of service by introducing new service between 9 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Mondays to Fridays and early Monday-to-Friday evenings before 10 p.m. It will also decrease the frequency of service during Monday-to-Friday afternoon rush hours. Buses will only operate along the route every hour from 9 a.m. until 10 p.m. Mondays to Fridays.
