Burlington Transit increases pass options

Late last month, Burlington Transit began offering passengers several new passes to replace its former ComboCard.

Burlington Transit riders can now purchase daily, weekly and monthly passes. You can also purchase a monthly fare integration pass if you ride a Burlington Transit bus and then transfer to a GO Transit vehicle.

Burlington Transit no longer accepted ComboCards as fares on January 31. It eliminated the ComboCards to help pave the way for Metrolinx to introduce a new “smart card”, Presto, for passengers on several transit systems to use in the fall. The ComboCard was the only example of a smart card fare in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton area.

Smart card technology will allow you to purchase a specific amount to use for transit fares and “load” the fare value onto a card. Then you can use the card to pay the fare at card-readers at stations and on transit vehicles and the reader will deduct the value of the fare from the amount you loaded on the card.
