As Nick Boragina reported in his Transit Toronto posting on February 23, the TTC will close the 1 Yonge-University-Spadina subway between St. Clair West and Union Stations this Sunday, March 2 from 9 a.m. until noon. The TTC is closing the line to replace “subway track equipment”.
Subways trains will run on two shuttle services on Sunday morning, with some trains operating only between Downsview and St. Clair West Stations and others operating only between Finch and Union Stations.
The TTC will operate shuttle buses, including WheelTrans buses for riders with disabilities or mobility restrictions, to replace subway service. Southbound buses will begin their trips at St. Clair West Station, then proceed westward along St. Clair Avenue West, southward along Bathurst Street, eastward along Davenport Road, southward along Spadina Road, eastward along Bloor Street West, southward along Queen’s Park, Queen’s Park Crescent West and University Avenue, then eastward along Front Street West to Bay Street, in front of Union Station. Northbound buses will operate northward along Bay, westward along Wellington Street West, northward along University, Queen’s Park Crescent East and Queen’s Park, westward along Bloor, northward along Spadina, westward along Davenport, northward along Walmer Road, eastward along Austin Terrace, northward along Spadina and then westward along St. Clair to St. Clair West Station.
Buses will stop on the street beside or near St. Clair West, Dupont, Spadina, St. George, Museum, Queen’s Park, St. Patrick, Osgoode, St. Andrew and Union Stations.
