Especially bad weather expected tonight

Environment Canada has issued a Winter Storm Watch for Toronto and surrounding areas. This storm has the potential to be especially nasty to transportation with much ice and freezing rain expected, and up to 20cm of snow. The bad weather should not start until after the PM rush, but that is no guarantee. This evening will be a good night leave the car at home and to take transit.

Transit will, however, be affected by this as well. The usual “hot spots”; areas such as the Lake Iroquois shoreline (AKA the “Davenport Hill”) on Bathurst, Christie, and Dufferin may see delays as these hills can become slippery and difficult to climb. The bulk of this storm will hit overnight, and it’s effects and the clean-up may linger well into tomorrow.
