Weekend events affect transit, March 21, 22 and 23



Update: March 23, 2 p.m.: A Transit Toronto reader reports that southbound buses on the 92 Woodbine South route are following their regular route to Woodbine Avenue and Kingston Road, then proceeding southwestward along Kingston Road and Eastern Avenue to Coxwell Avenue. Northbound buses begin their trips at Eastern and Coxwell and then proceed northward along Coxwell, eastward along Queen Street East and then northeastward along Kingston to Woodbine, resuming their regular route northward along Woodbine.


Special events in Maple and Toronto will affect transit services this weekend. Organizers have cancelled another event in Pickering that would have affected transit service.


The events affect these routes:

Maple


Good Friday Church Parade

The Region of York is closing

  • the eastbound lanes of Major Mackenzie Drive between McNaughton Road and Keele Street

to accommodate a Good Friday Church Parade through the Village of Maple in the City of Vaughan.

YRT is detouring buses during the event.

4 Major Mackenzie

From about 9 a.m. until noon on Friday, March 21, eastbound buses operate along their regular route to Cranston Park Avenue and McNaughton Road, then proceed:

eastward along McNaughton; and then
southward along Keele Street to Major Mackenzie Drive West,
resuming their regular route eastward along Major Mackenzie West.

Westbound buses reverse this routing.


Pickering


Royal Canadian Legion Branch #606 Bay Ridges Easter Parade

The Legion has cancelled the parade that it originally planned for Saturday, March 22 due to the poor weather conditions. Durham Region Transit has cancelled the detours that it previously announced for the M6/5 Bay Ridges / West Shore and Flag Bus 3 routes.


Toronto

Beaches Lions Club Easter Parade

From 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Sunday, March 23, the City of Toronto is closing

  • Queen Street East between Fallingbrook Road and Woodbine Avenue

to accommodate the annual parade. From 2 until 4:30 p.m. on the same day, the City will also close Woodbine Avenue between Queen and Lake Shore Boulevard East and Lake Shore between Woodbine and Coxwell Avenues.

The TTC is detouring transit services during the event.

64 Main

Buses will not run south of Kingston Road. TTC Information did not provide looping details.

501 Queen

Streetcars will not run east of Kingston Road, turning through the streetcar loop at Kingston and Queen.

92 Woodbine South

Buses will not run south of Kingston Road. TTC Information did not provide looping details.
