Construction affects Queen streetcar service this weekend

A City of Toronto construction project on Queen Street East between Coxwell and Connaught Avenues will affect TTC streetcar service on the 501 Queen route this weekend. A similar diversion took place on April 5 and 6.

From 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 19 and Sunday, April 20, the TTC will divert streetcars around the work area. It will also operate shuttle bus service to replace the streetcars along part of Queen.

Westbound streetcars operate along their regular route to Queen Street East and Coxwell Avenue, then detour:

northbound along Coxwell;
westbound along Gerrard Street East; and then
southbound along Broadview Avenue to Queen,
resuming their regular route westward along Queen.

Eastbound cars reverse this routing.

The TTC will operate shuttle buses along Queen Street East between Neville Park Boulevard and River Street to replace the streetcars. Buses will loop clockwise from Queen and River:

northward along River;
eastward along Dundas Street East; and then
southward along Carroll Street to Queen,
and then proceeding eastward along Queen.

Streetcars are only “running in” and “running out” of service from their home base at Russell Carhouse westward from Russell. Streetcars on the 506 Carlton route that would ordinarily run out along Queen between the carhouse and Coxwell Avenue are instead running westward along Queen to Broadview Avenue before joining their route at Broadview and Gerrard Street East.
