One Guelph construction project ends; another starts



The City of Guelph closed Arkell Road on April 25 to connect utilities to a subdivision along Arkell Road on Friday, May 2. Another City project to rebuild the intersection of Eramosa Road and Victoria Road North starts on Monday, May 5.


The construction affects these Guelph Transit routes: 8 General Hospital; 54 Arkell; 61 Victor Davis.


Arkell Road


Starting on Monday, April 25 to the City of Guelph closed Arkell Road between Summerfield Avenue and Ridgeway Drive and Guelph Transit diverted bus service. On Friday, May 2 at 6 p.m., the City re-opened the roadway.

54 Arkell:

Buses resumed their regular route.


Intersection of Eramosa Road and Victoria Road North


The City of Guelph has started a long-term project to widen and reconstruct Victoria Road. Starting on Monday, May 5, it will start to reconstruct the intersection of Eramosa Road and Victoria Road North as part of this project.

Guelph Transit will detour buses during the construction.

8 General Hospital:

Inbound buses — buses heading toward downtown Guelph — will operate along their regular route.

Outbound buses — buses travelling away from downtown Guelph — will operate along their regular route to Eramosa Road and Stevenson Street North, then detour:

northward along Stevenson;
eastward along Speedvale Avenue East; and then
southward along Newstead Street to Eramosa,
resuming their regular outbound route northeastward along Eramosa.

Buses will serve a temporary stop along Stevenson, opposite Skov Crescent.

Outbound buses continue to detour along Paul Avenue instead of Emma Street during because of another ongoing construction project.

61 Victor Davis

Inbound buses — buses heading toward downtown Guelph — operate along their regular route to Victoria Road North and Tobey Avenue, then detour:

westward along Tobey; and then
northward along Callendar Drive to Eramosa Road,
resuming their regular route southwestward along Eramosa.

Buses will serve a temporary stop along Tobey between Westminster Avenue and Callendar Drive.
