Interlining:

Transit agencies often interline two or more routes that share a common terminal to save resources — reducing the number of drivers and vehicles they require, particularly at times when fewer passengers use transit.

For example, the TTC interlines the 5 Avenue Road and the 56 Leaside routes on Sunday mornings. A bus will leave Queen’s Park on the 5 Avenue Road route, follow the regular route to Eglinton Station, then leave the station along the 56 Leaside route to Donlands Station. After leaving Donlands, the same bus will follow the 56 Leaside route to Eglinton, and then proceed towards Queen’s Park on the 5 Avenue Road route.
